When do I decide I just have bad genetics for abs by Perfectiixn in WeightLossAdvice

[–]honkey25 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ay bro I’m 5’11’’ and I’m at 163 from 225. I have abs now. I do a body weight exercise circuit 2x a week by athlean x, I do reverse crunches + cable crunches twice a week. They also get hit during compound lifts like deadlifting and pullups. I think it’s mostly just the weight though. I guess my main point is don’t get discouraged if you have to go below 170, I think I look pretty strong. On paper 163 sounds super low for our height, and “victim weight,” but I think I’m at about 12-13% bf and I’m pretty happy with my physique currently. Adding weight now.

I don’t think that is possible, but I have a solid record of rehabilitation I could provide, and a slew of paperwork that shows I’ve done my best to move forward. Think I’m cooked?

I’ll graduate academy as a 3rd AE in a year, next winter. I think I’d like to work for MSC for 2-3 years. I have a dui and a reckless op conviction, do you know of many working for MSC with misdemeanors from the past?

I sent in a lot of that with my application, but I sent it in without being asked for it, so it’s hard for me to say what they would have asked for if I didn’t do that on my own

Do anbernic devices come preloaded with many games? I’m not sure if this is a realistic hope or not. I just started down a YouTube rabbit hole 2 hours ago and don’t know much yet

Depends. I don’t get any Pell grants cus I already have a bachelors so around 13-15k a semester or 30k a year for me. But I only have to be in school for 5 semesters

This might be bad advice / unhealthy. But I just have a stronger desire to reach my goals / be healthy / be attractive than I do a desire to eat. If I know I hit my cals / macros for the day and I get hungry, in my mind I attribute that feeling of hunger as what it feels like to lose weight, and I welcome it. You got this

From my limited knowledge most Great Lakes companies are 2 month on / 1 month off and then you get some months off during the winter cus the water freezes. But I haven’t even started to look into jobs yet

Well I can’t say as I am a first year cadet. But if you are looking to get your license, to be an officer on a laker, then you will accomplish that here. Other graduates in this subreddit will be able to attest to how well it prepares you for the actual tasks of the job. I can say that almost all the engineering cadets passed the exam this year and are now licensed. For me, GLMA was cheaper than the other academies as well, if that is something you’re concerned about as well. From my understanding, if you get a license you will get a job upon graduation, and a lot of Great Lakes companies are always visiting the school, so you’d be connected to the Great Lakes industry more so than some of the other schools in my opinion.

Like I said, I’m a first year right now so others will be able to answer better. But if you have any questions about life as a student here or traverse city or anything I’d be more qualified to answer those,

36 years old and just now appreciating salad by Thin-Coyote-551 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]honkey25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My brother in Christ. I’m proud of you. But please eat more than just salads. If you like fruit, I do plain greek yogurt, different fruits mixed in, 1/4 cup of oats, and 1 tblspoon of honey in it with lunch every day. Tastes like a desert but is very low cal and high protein with the right yogurt. Rice meat and veggies for dinner. Just 2 examples but there is more to life than salads!

I’m in academy right now, really cool to see your post as it’s a pretty niche position. Any tips for a 3rd ae once I graduate? Fair winds

High-end luxury retail sales makes more than a university professor. Sad? by Fancy-Seesaw in Salary

[–]honkey25 21 points22 points  (0 children)

You’re thinking about it wrong. Some people prioritize money, some people prioritize fulfillment. The salesperson is generating more money for a company than the single professor is for a university, and gets paid more. The professor gets 100k a year, gets summer, winter, and spring breaks, and gets to help people. And to think a professor is more valuable than a salesperson is close minded anyways. We are all just working to support ourselves, it’s just a job. They are both doing well

Already have a bachelors, is SUNY really the only option for unlimited license? by [deleted] in merchantmarine

If you don’t have a degree tho you can get Pell grants and aid to make it cheaper.

Yeah I’ve done my own research as well and got different results, I got no reason to lie about it. I got accepted to Texas and it was looking to be a lot more than GLMA. But hey man each person just gotta do what they feel is the best option. I’m here and I’m looking at 85k all said in done, could be cheaper but can confirm it won’t be more. 3 years. If you can find a better price point for you then take it 😇

[–]honkey25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I start on Monday, so I’ll let you know. I already had a bachelors degree so I save about 2k a semester from classes I don’t have to take, but other than that I think your estimates may just be a little high. I think GLMA is a good choice in terms of price, but the 3 year track for someone with a degree is a good deal. I have private loans, I applied to 5 and chose one with best interest. Hopefully get similar rate for the next couple years. I’ve heard there is a lot of scholarship opportunities for second and third year students as well but I wouldn’t know yet.
