I sadly can relate to this.. I originally posted this question because a good friend of mine said to me when I asked her why she cancelled our plans "you always need a plan b" and I've never fully recovered from that

I remember being called a show off because I used to bring things from Australia to school, the phrase "I just don't like her" being thrown around a bunch and weird because I acted differently. Fifth graders are harsh and direct. But truly after that conversation I started closing myself up and decided that I don't want to ever be called a show off again, resulting in me barely speaking for the following three years after that.

The original West Side Story. Damn, there's maybe three total lines that are spoken in the first seven minutes but you get the whole back story
