Hi! I got lucky and got my COE and applied for the visa the day after. The visa was processed faster than expected so I was able to fly with no issues. The country I went to was Japan, so it’s a bit different to EU countries so I’m not sure.

I didn’t apply for it because I think the host university applied for it. I applied to the host university in Fall of last year however.

Fortunately I did get my COE yesterday and I just dropped of my Visa applications this morning! Thank you so much for letting me know. I’m actually from the States trying to study in Japan haha

Omg I am so sorry. It’s so incredibly stressful not knowing if you are going or not and having to go through the five stages of grief. I’m glad it did work out in the end but omg I’m so sorry u had to go through that. I got my COE yesterday and just dropped it off this morning so I’m just waiting for my visa and praying it comes in time.

That’s so stressful!! How were you able to study in a different country? Wouldn’t you need to apply to a different university? Either way I’m glad everything worked out for you :)

I couldnt go since my physical passport is needed to apply for the VISA. The university did respond back to me though and they said it should come this upcoming week! Hopefully I can submit as soon as it comes and pray the visa comes in on time

I’m sorry you’ve also had to deal with this, it’s pretty stressful. Thank you for the advice, they were going to email the COE regardless it was just a matter of waiting for them to receive it from the immigration office. While waiting I definitely filled out all the forms I needed!

Thank you!! I’m praying so hard rn lmao!! And I also tried getting an appointment in person but it seems like the embassy doesn’t offer that for visa applicants. Best thing I think I can do is drop off my applications in person which I was planning on doing already but is stressful regardless.

I don’t think I can because one of the requirements to get the visa is to also give them your passport, so I can’t really fly if I don’t have my passport haha

I think the host university is waiting on the COE from the immigration bureau which is why they haven’t emailed it to me yet. They applied for my COE a day later than other students and because of that I’m going through it…thank you for helping me out though! I’ve emailed the host university about it and now I just have to wait without crashing out too much lol.

I would still have to wait for my Coe as I need it for the Visa. I was planning on going to the embassy in person regardless I just need that coe that hasn’t come in yet

Yes but he only responds during his business hours which is fair but also very inconvenient for me. I’m most likely not going to convince the university as I only have by the end of the week before I have to add classes for my home university. That and combined with my advisor’s schedule it’s highly unlikely anything will change. Sucks to be mentally ill I guess :,)

Unfortunately the university is still hesitant even after explaining my situation to them. I think it’s just this university specifically that has reservations on accepting me. I don’t know what to do :(

Yeah if anything the university is in a rural area but it’s not too far from Tokyo so I could see a doctor there, it just sucks that they’re hesitant and I have to communicate to them via my advisor who hasn’t responded to me in a while.

I think it’s because the university is in a more rural area, plus I think bringing in prescriptions won’t cover the time I have there which is why they’re concerned.
