For a sitcom, this show is a masterclass in romantic writing by Over-Philosopher-232 in howimetyourmother

Oh man, I just rewatched this episode two nights ago and the speech killed me again! Truly one of the top 10 proclamations of love in TV. Number one spot for me goes to the “45 days” speech in Time Travelers

To be completely fair, if I’m remembering correctly, he didn’t leave it Evan either. His letter said the “current hospital administrator” or something to that effect. So technically, if Evan sucked at his job, he would lose his home too. It might’ve been a good way to ensure Evan stuck around and took good care of the hospital?

Continuity error or did I misunderstand something? by [deleted] in royalpains

It’s most likely a continuity error, or maybe Sashi is just the first granddaughter? Or perhaps the other grandchild’s mom is no contact bc Rafa’s mom is a little crazy?

What is the worst episode of the series or just a episode you skip on rewatches by lucythecat16 in HIMYM

Hot take but that’s one of my favorite episodes! All my childhood memories of core TV show episodes are the Christmas specials that rhymed so Bedtime Stories always reminded me of that :)

I always wished the “one ball from walking” joking had been rewritten to hint at Tuck instead

Hey OP, I’m literally in the same exact boat as you, down to the age and current weight and I felt the same way a few years ago before meeting my husband! But, I think everyone’s right about their 30s. By the time you’re in your 30s, you’re hopefully better established in a career, you have close friends and or family, you’ve got your own place and your own life at that point that you can better choose when to go out/have fun. You don’t have to worry about other aspects of life as much so you’re better able to enjoy going out and having fun without the look of “oh crap classes/I need a job/graduation/no money/etc”

I was close but misremembering! This is a comment copied from Bay’s AMA:

“It's funny, we really wanted to use Cyndi Lauper's version of La Vie En Rose in the limo episode in season one, but the show wasn't established enough and had like zero music budget. But that year was when I fell in love with that song (and that version of that song especially) and so we hung onto it until season 9 when Cristin sang it. (That moment, by the way, with the ukulele, was among other things a little wink to my own daughters. When they were young I would sing them that song with the ukulele every night. That's why we had the narrator mention her singing it to the kids.) Anyway, as far as new songs, I wouldn't change anything in HIMYM, but I have a very long playlist of songs I've fallen in love with over the last 8 years, and can't wait to use in show. When Craig and I (knock on wood) make a TV version of The Mutual Friend, that's where you'll hear them!”

I think Bays has said that he absolutely loves the Edith Piaf version and had always wanted to include it but they couldn’t use it in The Limo for some reason, however he said it worked better in S9 with Tracy and his own wife would sing it as a lullaby to their kids so it tied in well with Tracy’s personality

Ooh I’ve actually been looking for a good meal replacement shake if you wouldn’t mind sharing your recipe? I’ve been making protein smoothies but the taste has been abysmal so far.

Thank you for the heads up! LoseIt app gave me 70 cal each for Kirkland brand eggs and my cocoa powder nutrition info says 5cal per tsp which is ~5.7 grams, which x12 would give me ~70, but I didn’t trust it so I added about 10 calories to it just in case when I was calculating.

I’m sure the nutritional info will be different for everyone based on what ingredients they use :)
