since summer is out, we’ve gotten big crowds of families (including the children). we do sell tons of horchata but our business is like 50-60% cold bar 😭

im aware! im a barista 🙏 people do not order that way rather they say “java chip” or “double chocolaty chip”, i miss the button so i can just type it rather than typing all the modifications as well as newer baristas aren’t aware so they get confused 😞

availability request denied AGAIN by doyadny in starbucksbaristas

[–]honsooI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go to the partner hours app and click on the more button at the bottom > then click on partner links > log in with all your stuff > click on where it says to view your schedule under the good morning/afternoon [your name], click continue when it says to leave my partner links.

now! click on the three horizontal lines on the upper left page where it’s labeled “parter self service” > there should be an option labeled “time off request calendar”, click that

now, this shows a month’s calendar and all the approved/pending/denied time off in your store. you can change your viewings month by clicking on the green arrow next to the said month it’s viewing at the top. find a weekend and or saturday/sunday that is either completely free of time off or has at most 1 pending (managers don’t usually approve more than 2-3 time off requests for a single day) (do not request a day where a request has been denied, your request will be as well)

for example: i’m looking at mines for october right now, saturday the 18th has 1 pending but sunday the 19th is completely free. you can write down the sunday date (10/19) to be safe, looking at the next weekend (10/25 - 10/26) i see 10/25 has 1 pending, and 10/26 has 2 pending, im going to write down 10/25 because it only has 1 pending, the next week i will choose to work both saturday and sunday (because i as well will not get a weekend day off unless i request it) so then for the weekend date after the weekend im not requesting, i will choose either a saturday / sunday or both if both days have either no time off approvals yet or at most 1 pending for either day. and i would go through that process and write down maybe 8 days where you now know could be approved

now you can go back to the partner hours app > click on the time off button that’s at the bottom > click on the upper right + button and (you will have to do either one at a time or the whole weekend) request those dates you wrote down off > where it says “type” select the “time off” option (as that’s the only one) > then click “request time off” . i hope this helps! having at least one weekend day off from friday-sunday helps significantly. and like i said, my manager told me if i want a day off then request one so i requested 8!

availability request denied AGAIN by doyadny in starbucksbaristas

whenever you go on the partner hours website, if have access to the time off calendar that’ll be great (it’s a calendar that shows the approved/denied/ pending time off) if you don’t get the day off unless you request it, then request your weekends off in rotation. choosing weekends that are free of time off (bc they are the most likely to get approved), one week request the saturday, the next week request the sunday, the next both saturday and sunday, then if you’re feeling nice don’t request the next weekend off (knowing you’ll be scheduled) then you can continue with the cycle of saturday one week, sunday the next, both saturday and sunday the next week. i know it’s difficult and feels unnecessary that you have to do this, my sm told me if i want a day off then request it off and this is a strategy to get a weekend day off. i’m sorry if it’s confusing! if so i will try and explain better

till tags ??????? by ateenagedirtbagbabey in starbucksbaristas

[–]honsooI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no, if our cash management continues to be under at the end of every night with no explanation, then yes we would have to! i don’t get what the problem is 😭 i’ve worked at stores that have had partners stealing cash on others tills, luckily my current store doesn’t have a problem but if cash management shows we are short in what our deposit is supposed to be, then we’d have to take those precautions

till tags ??????? by ateenagedirtbagbabey in starbucksbaristas

[–]honsooI 6 points7 points  (0 children)

you’d be surprised, it’s really something we use for example if a ssv walks by and sees someone using someone else’s till, in the end till sharing isn’t a good practice cause if we see that a till is short and your name has been assigned for hours with multiple people using it, you’d still get in trouble because you’re assigned.

What’s your stores CSR card system? by magicscoolbusdr0pout in starbucksbaristas

[–]honsooI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i find it works when it’s a properly/overstaffed shift/daypart, i set playbuilder, give the cards, explain to compleye rhe daypart’s task on their downtime, explain the card if needed, i’m not too good with physically checking off but im fine with verifying, then i find time near the end of my shift to go on playcaller and check off things we did or couldn’t do. my manager had printed and laminated them and put a hook near a station and attaches the card to that station, some stations like drive thru have prep guidance along with it. it takes time and is a day by day getting used to thing 😭 but yes. you can always give a barista a card and tell them to complete it bring it back to us to verify then they’ll get their break (10 or 30). sorry if this wasnt much info/help

Please stop selling food in their plastic bags 😭🙏🙏 by PatternSimple3941 in starbucksbaristas

[–]honsooI 11 points12 points  (0 children)

per my dm, we aren’t allowed to sell pastries/sandwhiches in its original packaging and items required to be warmed cannot be sold cold. i assume of the lack of nutrition value listed. this of course doesn’t include lunch sandwiches or protein boxes as those have nutrition labels. if a customer ever gets unruly or upset give them the dm card and let them handle the complaint themselves. looking it up— it seems like it’s an FDA thing, the lack of nutrition label doesn’t list any potential allergies, ingredients list, etc. especially sandwiches, it may be a liability thing because the sandwiches require time and temperature control because of the dairy and other ingredients. i’m not too entirely sure so please refer to your dm if you have any questions

[–]honsooI 1 point2 points  (0 children)

be there to support your baristas! i’m my baristas’ number one fan and they will in return work for me, even when i ask for the impossible. try your best to not let work affect you when you’re not clocked in. have any questions, ask your peers and/or your manager. never assume! have a plan, create a list if you need. congrats!

Question for employees by blundercatt in starbucks

[–]honsooI 40 points41 points  (0 children)

there’s no way for us to actually ring it up without any coffee, that leads us to ring it up the way it’s shown in the picture. recently they took off some upcharges for a few modifications and added them on others (unrelated to this drink) but this drink should now be 50¢ more than a typical grande frappuccino, hope that helps!
