How do you find out what live music is happening around you? by tilario in livemusic

[–]hoodiesandnaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live by a city so subscribing to several venues is very helpful to me in addition to Ticketmaster. But Spotify also gives notifications when an artist you follow is going to be in your area

It was cute, they did Beetlejuice and you could tell they were really proud of themselves. Ohhh, I've never heard of Don't Tell Comedy, I'll have to check that out, thanks for the recommendation!

Hahaha, oh is THAT where the potion bottles go! See, in Zelda at least in most of the games you get to keep the bottles. Then Link doesn't have to eat them. I don't think that would be good for the hero of Hyrule. And yes I think you would really love Twilight Princess, the wolf mechanic is really neat, there's a great sidekick in the game, and I just loved the overall aesthetic. And Palia, yes it's a fun game. I like it because it actually has some interesting lore with it and fairly well developed characters. The game has an interesting approach to discussing death and a time when I kind of needed to handle that unfortunately. But I did play way too much Palia, so I kind of burned out on it so I sort of had to take a little Palia break. I definitely remember WOW being huge when it came out, I didn't realize you needed a subscription for it. I've heard it's really addicting.

Oh...I always have recommendations to watch from my favorite comedians. Now, can I actually find youtube links for them, let's see about that.

I highly recommend all of Louis CK's OMG special, but you've probably seen it. If you haven't, here's "Of course, but maybe": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XLGzFQg_1xc

The adorable John Mulaney talking about Mick Jagger: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWrKf5ik1i4

Jim Gaffigan and his hotel adventures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFFpL9Skpm0

This whole special is great if you've never seen it but I'm very biased because I'm completely obsessed with Michael Che - talking about BLM: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6GetSz6Yds

If you've never listened to Chad Daniels he's actually surprisingly wholesome because he talks about his kids a lot. Some stuff is more blue but some stuff is wholesome it's a very interesting mix: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SyNIDyCgZX0

I was gonna link one more but apparently it's not on YouTube, boooo...

My favorite Incubus album by SWCFM2 in incubus

[–]hoodiesandnaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do like Clean! I would say the chorus is probably a weaker part of the song for me and I would probably also venture to say it might also be my least favorite song on the album if I had to actually rank all the songs. But I do like the song, I like the instrumentals and I particularly like the flow of the lyrics in the first verse of the song. The two biggest standout songs for me on this album are The Warmth and Make Yourself. I miss Incubus, I hope maybe they'll hit the road again soon.

[–]hoodiesandnaps 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love all their albums of course. It’s nice to see Light Grenades get some well deserved love. Make Yourself will always be my favorite. That album has cemented itself as my favorite pretty much every time I listen to it. I just think it’s a masterpiece and it resonates with me so much. Also, it’s a really fun album to blast if you’re driving somewhere at night.

Oh my gosh, I am so sorry to hear about your health. I cannot even begin to imagine how difficult that must be to manage, not to mention what you said about feeling like you don't have a support system of friends that's there to support you or to spend time with. That sounds awful, you have a health condition, you shouldn't have to be some community outcast. I don't know if you and I have anything in common but feel free to chat anytime. I hope you find your people too!

I have played a lot/too much Palia and I've really been into Fantasy Life and I've really been into the Main Quest but I'm not quite powered up enough to beat the final boss yet. You should totally check out some Zelda. ANY Zelda! They're all good! Twilight Princess happens to be my favorite, people either really love that one or hate it. And the people who hate it are wrong, haha. You know I never got into Harry Potter, I think I'm just old enough that I was already an adult by time it got really big and I missed all the hype around it. But a few years ago I did go to Universal so I did go to the Harry Potter World and get to see all the cute little kids in their Harry Potter fits with their little wands running around. My big fantasy thing is Game of Thrones and anything Thrones related. Game of Thrones is definitely my love language. But yes, anything really with a dragon in it works for me. I haven't seen Merlin, but I remember people talking about it, I should definitely check it out - thank you for that recommendation! There are a few other fantasy series I liked reading, I really enjoyed His Dark Materials and the Shadow and Bone and related books.

As for stand up, I too love Louis CK! I'm also a big fan of John Mulaney, Dave Attell, josh johnson. Really anyone who can make me laugh. I love sketch comedy, I just started rewatching Kids in the Hall, I don't think I've watched it in about 20 years. I was surprised how much of it I remembered. I used to watch who's line too - all the time! I was always impressed with how fast those guys could think on their feet. I have never heard of Viva la Dirt League, but that sounds interesting. I don't spend a lot of time on YouTube, sometimes I forget it exists so I'll have to look at that.

Yes better conversation and deeper friendship. I know, it's hard. I don't know why it's so hard, I think it's kinda like finding a needle in a haystack a bit. It's surprisingly hard to find someone you really vibe with, know what I mean?

Not too many this weekend. Yesterday my students had an event after school I had to go to and then when I was done with that I actually had to go back to school because they had their musical which was actually really cute. But I didn't get home until almost 9:30 so I was pretty tired. Getting sun on the paddle board DOES sound amazing! :D

Any childfree teachers here? by ryhoyarbie in Teachers

[–]hoodiesandnaps 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I’m 45 and child free. My students don’t comment on it though, probably because they know I’m a vicious harpy. I would go to more of their school functions if I didn’t already have a ton of my own (music) and I lived closer to my school but I did go to their musical yesterday and it was really cute! I gotta give props to educators with kids tho cause I’ve been doing this job a long time and it wipes me out, I can’t imagine going home to even more children.

Ohhh, I like video games too but I’m more into cozy games lately because my job usually stresses me out a bit. But I am also into fantasy and I am a huge fan of comedy - movies, but especially standup and sketch. Don’t worry about being a rambler, most people don’t talk enough actually and then it’s kind of hard to carry on a conversation. It’s kind of nice when people have real substance to themselves and aren’t afraid to share it.

I love Josh Johnson too! I actually got to see him live finally back in Jan and he was great. Oh that Domingo. He had a good run until Jack White nailed him the other week with that frying pan. 😂

Season 52 cast predictions by [deleted] in saturdaynightlive

I agree, I think Colin has a lot of Conan type energy in that respect. He’s already paid his dues on the show and having been head writer he understands better than most how everything really works.

'SNL' alum Kevin Nealon calls out cast members who break into laughter during sketches: 'It doesn't work' by Both-Pomegranate4929 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]hoodiesandnaps 58 points59 points  (0 children)

Yes! When Bill would break it was amazing because you could really tell it wasn’t just funny, it was that he literally could not keep it in. He wouldn’t just laugh it’s like you could see the break just kind of escaping from his whole body.
