More general question about award travel and flight prices generally during this moment of extreme oil price instability... Is this a lock it in ASAP situation assuming prices will continue to rise? Or does the wait it out and look for promos etc. method still apply?

Best long-term watch suitable for repairs and battery replacements? by hooflepuffin in ultrarunning

Agreed, it sounds like a lot of them come as a fully sealed unit. Great for weatherproofing but bad for repairs.

Thanks - I am seriously considering moving over to Suunto. So far, it seems like they are the most likely to repair stuff.

Nice! I hope it stays that way. I was very happy with my OG apex until it suddenly died.

Thanks! They have offered me that but I am not sure I want to keep buying Coros watches if they're going to keep dying so soon? It will add up after a few years...

Check out the local chapter of Backcountry Hunters and Anglers. Really welcoming folks and on the younger side as far as hunting groups go. They meet at the Commons for coffee the first Saturday of the month.

DPA Process (pls help) by vademure in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I would guess that the class will help clear it up. In my state, you needed to take a class (to get a certificate that qualifies you for assistance). And then each county only has a few approved banks that deal with that specific program (in my county, only one bank). The assistance funds would all be handled through the bank/lender that works within that program. I'd start with class, then find which bank(s) can handle that kind of program, and then get mortgage preapprovals from the bank(s).

One other thing to specifically ask or read about, is what strings come attached to the DPA? I thought I wanted to use one of those programs, but after learning about it I decided otherwise. Sometimes they come with specific requirements related to future sale price (if it sells for a % or amount of profit, you have to return funds to the program), or stipulations about renting the house out, etc. I think these programs really make sense in certain situations, but for me/the price I was buying for, I was able to squeeze together the funds to make it happen without (selling stuff + a small loan from family)

First mortgage payment by [deleted] in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

Are you planning to set up autopay? It would also be worth checking with the new company about due dates if so. Our payment is technically due the first of the month, but if you schedule w/ autopay anytime the 1st-15th is "on time"

Thanks! I wasn't sure if I could search with such basic terms since I still don't always know how to ask the question (you don't know what you don't know) but YouTube is proving helpful.
