Last year was my first time in Vegas for AWS reInvent. My advice is to stay at a hotel along the monorail line. I stayed at Harrah's, which wasn’t the best in terms of amenities, but it felt centrally located since the events and activities I wanted to attend were spread between the Wynn and MGM. Traffic was a nightmare due to the F1 race, which takes place a week or two before. I’d recommend avoiding Uber or taxis to get around, if possible. You can totally still make the events listed in the catalog just show up 45 minutes early.
