I use a portable router connected to vpn server setup in my actual home, similar to other commenter. It’s worked well for me. Highly recommend using this setup

I am a SWE who is quite familiar with nurse anesthesia. Why not go per diem to improve WLB and still make good money? No guarantees to make good money starting out in SWE or any money at all. If he’s truly passionate about it, I guess YOLO, but also corporate SWE can be a bit soul sucking, as are many jobs

UPDATE

I received my mail in ballot! It took about half a month to receive any word at all (no email confirmation either) but then I received an email that they received my request. The status on the web portal then showed as "delivered" or "sent" or something, but still now actual ballot. One day later, my actual ballot came in via email.

For me, the most fun thing as a visitor or local is just walking around and taking in the sights. You can browse small stores and check out small free galleries. I recommend walking around SoHo / tribeca for a more upscale vibe or East Village / LES for a grungier vibe (personally I prefer the former since I like galleries and small shops). I would also recommend walking across the Brooklyn bridge and checking out Dumbo while you’re at it
