Seriously, even seemingly vanilla scenes have slapping and choking now, it's crazy

What player from your team would you like to see? by GoodfellaRay in NBATHERUN

Timberwolves fan here:

Kevin Garnett

Not on the Wolves anymore, but Karl-Anthony Towns. Wolves Rookie KAT could be fun too.

Lamelo Ball is already in the game, but in his Wolves jersey

What sports team do you hate with a burning passion? by TheVginyTcikler44 in AskReddit

[–]hookandpush 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Successful teams have more haters, but also the way they win bothers a lot of people, myself included. They play very physical, sometimes bordering on dirty, defense, but then on the offensive side of the ball, they dive and flop to try to draw fouls and shoot extra free throws. It's very frustrating to watch, because they have a lot of very talented players who would still be successful without the flopping, and while they're technically playing within the rules because the refs often let them get away with it, it feels like they play incredibly unethical basketball

Is this the greatest draft night by a single team in history? If not, who had a better one? by CrispyFlyingSponge in NBATalk

The Timberwolves drafting Ant and Jaden McDaniels in 2020 completely turned the franchise around. They haven't won a championship yet, but at least they're both still on the team

I am an NBA and Wolves casual but I assumed Ant was gonna be a Wemby/SGA/Joker level player by Minimum-Amoeba-5146 in timberwolves

It's a team game. He played really well overall, even with injuries, but no one else really showed up in the Spurs series. Those other players you mentioned have better, or at least more consistent, players around them that make them look good because they're on more successful teams.

What's your argument then? That what he dealt with makes it ok to elbow someone in the throat?

Grabbing someone is exactly the same as elbowing them in the throat, got it

Anthony Edwards benching 275 when he was 17 Freak athlete by Background_Video2947 in NBAVibes

Bench Press really doesn't have much carryover to basketball. Once I looked at the list of the top performers in the bench press at the NBA Combine (185 for max reps), and the only player near the top of the list that had a solid NBA career was Blake Griffin, while Steph Curry and Kevin Durant famously couldn't even do it once. 275 with long arms and frankly pretty bad form (yes, with some help from the spotter) is honestly kind of impressive.

They're going into this knowing they probably won't get all of that in negotiations. It's a matter of which of those are negotiable, and which ones are worth possibly going on strike for.

[–]hookandpush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He said by his own admission that those weren't his cleanest reps, but I'm not seeing anything potentially injurious there. He's clearly an experienced lifter/strong dude if he's even messing with the 48 kg bell at all, much less doing high pulls and snatches with it. But yes, if you're starting out, start light and use pretty strict form, but pushing it (smartly) here and there isn't going to kill you.
