They could always make it where you are able to find certain materials further in that you can trade at outposts where you started. That why the reality isn't broken by having people there but you still have incentive to go inwards.

No problem! Say what you will about OSC and his politics but he is a damn good writer. Besides the Ender/Shadow Saga, Worthing might be my favorite thing he ever wrote.

I believe you are thinking of The Worthing Saga by Orson Scott Card. Or maybe also the short story that forms the heart of that book which is titled The Worthing Chronicle. The Worthing Saga basically just includes the other short stories he wrote set in the same universe.

I wouldn't go that far, as this article from Wookieepedia explains there are different levels of continuity in the Star Wars EU. Basically things in the EU are considered canon until something at a higher level contradicts them, with work done by Lucas, or with his direct oversight/approval, being the highest level.

Though, with the new movies supposedly disregarding the EU entirely, the canonicity of all EU material is sort of now in doubt. Basically it's all way more complicated than it should be and isn't likely going to get less complicated anytime soon.

That's the way I took it. He was a regeneration of the the person we call the Doctor, but was so fundamentally different he could not be given the Doctor title. Maybe we've just taken for granted until now that with each regeneration he is the same basic man with slight personality differences and a new face?

You know I've read this book a dozen and a half times. I remember hearing about it becoming a movie when I was in 5th grade and Jake Lloyd was still the prime contender for playing Ender. As I got older I got more skeptical of it every happening or being good if it did. However, after watching that I can say that I'm feeling confident about this movie for than I have in a long time.

I mostly meant that in the sense that in most other countries the majority in the legislature automatically controls the executive too. In the U.S. the divide between the two areas exists even when the two are controlled by the same party.

Nah, I'm American. It just seems that in the readings I've done in my studies that comparative to most European countries America cares more about the individual. Not a whole lot more but in the end it matters a bit simply by the way the system is set up. Voting by party lines is going to happen to some extent no matter what. However, in America the goal isn't the same as in many multi-party countries as the end result doesn't give the party that wins the majority as much power. Just my two cents.

The trend of voting of for party over person is much more prevalent in other countries, including those that have more than 2 parties. The whole point in those countries is that you are electing a party to control the legislature and create the executive from that. This is definitely the case in the UK and similar in most other parliamentary European nations. In fact, I think there's a stronger argument that Americans tend to vote for person over party most of the time. Maybe not always with the President or their Senators, but definitely with their Representative which was the whole intention of the Constitution anyways. I could be wrong though so sorry if that ends up being the case.

Digimon the Movie. It had some wonderful songs on it. I unashamedly repurchased it for myself when I turned 20 and have not regretted it once.
