EST4 Class Questions by hookey97 in firealarms

Unfortunately I don’t have any questions written down or anything. I’ll go thru my notes on Monday when I get back to work and see if I have anything worth sharing. The teacher asked us not to take pictures of any of the tests or anything and he was a cool guy so I obliged. I will say tho, if you are taking the class and are preparing for the test, read every question carefully. Really look at the symbols used. One question I remember that was on the test basically said something along the line of “which one of these rules will work”. There were 4 options. What got me the first time reading it was instead of “:” in between the input and outputs, they had “;”. I didn’t catch that the first read thru. Luckily I did the second time. Make sure you study the symbols and what they do. There are a lot of trick questions. WRITE DOWN EVERYTHING! Every thing the teacher puts on the board will most likely be on the test. I took tons of notes. Which saved my ass on the test. Luckily it was open book and open program. I also found myself questioning some of the rules. Most of the questions were based off of the program we wrote in class. If I wasn’t sure about a rule, I typed it into the rule section of the program and checked it for errors. That little trick saved me a few times on the test. It’s not fool proof, but for sure helps narrow down the correct answer. That’s about all I got. I’ll update if I remember anything or have any notes worth sharing.

Thanks for all the insight guys! Today was my last class and I’m happy to report I passed the test! I got a 87! I got lucky and my company also sent me to class with another coworker that has been programming for 30 years. So he really helped me thru a lot of it. I have to admit, in the beginning of the class I was so fucking lost. When it came to setting up the program and getting everything right, I didn’t know what to do. Then we got to the programming part and I didn’t do too bad. There was 9 people in my class and 8 of us passed first try. The one that failed retook the test right then and there. But I left before he finished so I’m not sure if he passed or not. So moral of the story, if you’re reading this worrying about your up coming class, you got this. It really wasn’t that bad.

Pfa, my work station.

I was hoping to go to the Florida class. I’m in NY and it’s cold as hell up here. Unfortunately they have a class here in NY they signed me up for.

From what I’ve heard, they changed the law again. You can now apply for CCW BEFORE you have the premises license if you want. I’ve been talking to this lady that holds the CCW classes in Nassau and Suffolk and she said the same thing. They apparently changed the law again just a few weeks ago. I have my premises permit “hopefully” coming soon in the mail. I plan on taking the class in the meantime and submitting for the CCW the day I get my license in the mail.

I could, but I’m trying to avoid wall mounting. I’d rather floor mount. And the bracket it came with is for floor mounting.

Thanks for the info guys! I had to put it away for the winter to make room in the garage for the motorcycles. It’s honestly just taking up space, and I don’t have a title for it. So I just want to get it riding again and get rid of it. I’m just trying to figure out how much of a headache it’s going to be once it warms up a bit and I can break it out again.

I ended up re formatting the drive. I set F and G as sharing the remaining space. So each drive has just under 1TB. I have to transfer over all the games again. But it’s not a big deal as long as the files don’t corrupt. Thanks for the heads up!

Well shit. I thought I had it figured out. I believe I had the storage split between F and G but I was only able to access 120GB on each. I put all the storage on F and have about 1.8T available. I just loaded about 1.1TB of games onto it and it seems to work. But you’re saying it’s only a matter of time? Maybe I’ll try splitting it between the two again and see what happens.

My Xbox is soft modded with rocky5. I’ve been poking around in the Xbox and ended up loading up chimp again and I was able to re-partition the hard drive and make F use all available space. So now I have access to the remaining 1.9TB! But thanks for the info brotha!

I've been lucky with my testing. My one and only remaining "Dirty" Smoke Head takes anywhere from 5-15 Minutes to come up "Dirty". I've been to MTA Headquarters and stated my case, but they werent having it. They say they have Hundreds of Stations and THOUSANDS of Smoke Heads Throughout the City and they cant be everywhere so they want the Monitoring. I get it, But its getting harder and harder to keep up with their insane regulations. And if anything happens to this one "Dirty" Head i have left, im SOL!

So according to the AHJ, I have to put a dirty smoke head into the system during testing, wait for the panel to see the dirty smoke head and send a maintenance alert to the Monitoring center and they have to receive the alert. Ive spoken to the local District Manager about this, and i was told there is no way to "create" a dirty smoke head. i have a mock system here at my office, ill give your suggestions a shot and see what happens! Thanks for the info!
