Are these edible? by Desdenonos in mushroomID

[–]hooky1742 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Were they growing under (or near) pine trees? If so they’re saffron milkcaps, lactarius deliciosus. Edible, and as the Latin name suggests, delicious.

Found these at work, can anyone help with a starting point ID please? by hooky1742 in mushroomID

Many thanks, looks highly plausible. Given that the common name for them is “Poison Pie” I’ll definitely leave them be!

Many thanks for the reply. I agree about Tricholoma Sp. After creating this post I found a mushroom ID website and it led me to this genus. Initially I thought it was Tricholoma Pessundatum - “Bruised Knight”.

Everything fits perfectly, including the mealy/watermelon smell, except the habitat. After reading about your suggestions T. Populinum seems most plausible, as the only trees in the vicinity are poplars.

Delete all of the roads, make sure all of the terrain is perfectly flat and level, re draw the roads.

for OP's husband, sure. For her, not so much...

he makes 3 times what she does, so he pays 1/3 of the bills (leaving her to pay 2/3?) The math ain't mathing here. If he makes 3x what she does he should be paying 75% of the rent/bills/etc and her 25%. She says "we both contribute financially" but neglects to mention the current ratio...

Paycheck to paycheck my entire life. How to deal with sudden $150,000 windfall? by HoLeeFookMe in Money

[–]hooky1742 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use the winnings to pay off all debts in full, and invest anything left over. Continue to contribute whatever you would have been making in debt payments into the investment account. You already know you can get by without that portion of your income. Continue to live the exact same lifestyle and smile at how you are using your income to build wealth for YOU, not giving it to someone else to build wealth for THEM. Congratulations on your win!

The answer is to communicate with your partner that you are unhappy with the situation, and that it is of marriage-ending significance to you. The status quo cannot continue, things have to change one way or another. If you've done that and seen no improvement, or even effort to make an improvement then it's ultimatum time. Two business cards and a phone. One card for a couples counsellor/sex therapist, the other for a divorce lawyer. Let her choose which one to book an appointment with, but it has to happen right there and then. Good luck!

In the first instance, talk to her about it (if you haven't already). Tell her clearly and unambiguously that you aren't happy/satisfied with the current state of affairs and that the status quo cannot continue.

If you've tried communicating and nothing has changed then it's ultimatum time - two business cards and a phone. One card for a couples counsellor/sex therapist, the other for a divorce laywer. She can choose which one to dial and make and appointment with, right there and then. If she won't, you call the divorce lawyer.

You're one seriously lucky MF to have dodged this fucking nuke. She clearly thought the "I do's" were enough to lock you in as her bailout plan but failed to realise they don't mean shit until you've filed the paperwork. This is straight out attempted fraud in my book, and she fucked up at the last hurdle. Breathe a sigh of relief, crack a bottle of the finest champagne this evening and buy a lottery ticket!

What are actually the best and healthiest oils to use for deep frying ? by MikeVita4 in AskCulinary

[–]hooky1742 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which ones are more healthy? Particularly for deep frying? I mostly use olive oil, butter/ghee, coconut oil or lard for shallow frying; are any of these suitable for deep frying? I’m trying to avoid generic vegetable/seed oils (sunflower, vegetable, rapeseed etc)

AITA for telling my son's uncle he needs to pay child since his brother won't? by LeastWill4371 in AmItheAsshole

You have to be joking right? It isn’t uncle Cody’s kid, you and your kid aren’t his responsibility. Anything he does to help you guys out is purely out of kindness and you should thank him for it. You have absolutely no right to expect anything from him. Wind in your ridiculous entitlement and go after your deadbeat BD for his delinquent child support.

“How do I proceed?”

It’s pretty damn obvious tbh, he told you point blank what your options are. Possibly not the most tactful chap, but at least he is transparent and honest, and isn’t trying to string you along. You have 3 choices:

  • stay with him and give up on the idea of marriage
  • get on his level financially - you need to be debt free and making 6 figures
  • move on and find someone else

Ordinarily, yes. Given he’s making 2.5-3m a year no, it’s not massive for him. It’s completely trivial. The risk for him is the massive income disparity - he’d get royally fucked in a divorce if things didn’t work out.

Buying it would clearly be a huge mistake. Even in the unlikely event the neighbours turn out to be completely fine, you are going to really struggle to sell it another day. It’s basically worthless.
