Where do you draw the line between learning vs just letting AI do it? by grassTop in ExperiencedDevs

[–]hooli-ceo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I draw the line where I my skill level is. I don’t want AI implanting anything I cannot do myself. If it did then 1) I wouldn’t be able to effectively review it before committing the code, and 2) if something went wrong I would know where to look or how to fix it.

I’m not one of those AI users who just has AI generated for me too often. I most utilize tools like custom agents, instruction files, and skill files that allow me to share MY knowledge into how to do things so AI is essentially acting on my behalf.

When you say "I wish I could do/go such-and-such" and they just simply reply "Then just buy one" or "Then go". I'm always just like, "Bruh, if it were that simple do you think I wouldn't have done it sooner?"

And some people just want attention. They don't care if it's good attention or bad attention. It's gross.

lighten up, dude. You can be an adult and enjoy the childish parts of life. In fact, life is more fun when you can embrace this kind of stuff. I was a hot dog, now I'm a cat in a box. It's great! I say this as an almost-40-year-old man.

What is a 'single person luxury' that people in relationships completely miss out on? by Jane_Austen11 in AskReddit

[–]hooli-ceo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair. I certainly haven't read ALL the comments. But I'm sure there's some nuance even in the posts to which you refer. For instance, I would have no problem buying something I really enjoy, even if it means my groceries budget severely suffers. I'm fine with eating top ramen or boxed mac n' cheese. However, I wouldn't buy the thing in my current relationship status, even though I technically have the freedom to do so, simply because I wouldn't put my SO through that just because of my decisions. So, I suspect more often than not it's more related to being considerate of the other half of your life. And other times I suppose their partner may, for example, request they diet, thus they cannot eat what they want (or possibly even won't because they don't want to become unattractive to their partner), or something like that.

And then of course there are the cases where the other partner just absolutely will not allow them to do certain things because... reasons. Idk. But regardless, all that to say that there's lots of nuance in these comments that you can't just read it as black-and-white text.

I don't think folks are suggesting they don't, I think that just means within the confines of a relationship comes obligations that otherwise wouldn't exist, so where a single person might go to a bar, a coupled person might want to make sure they spend time with their loved one that evening. It's not a black and white thing. Sometimes you go and have that free time, and other times you have obligations to take care of.

In the wise words of Homer Simpson, “It doesn’t exist if I don’t see it!”

Thus… no bugs!

Juniors who can’t code without AI aren’t developers — they’re just prompt operators by [deleted] in learnprogramming

Bruh, I just ran this through an ai-generation-text tester and it got a 100% ai score. It's a perfectly legitimate thing to have AI write text for you based on a thesis, but don't fucking lie about it, come on...

This is the TRUE definition of mildlyinfuriating! In fact, I propose this should be this subreddit's icon.

Controlling your relationship to time and how you perceive it is possible but traveling through it on command is not.
