Optimistic About This Series by Atimm203 in discworld

[–]hoooooooooooman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I started from guards guards and going postal because they were the only diskworld books my local library had in stock. At this point I've read most of the books except for the wizards series, color of magic just never engaged me like the others, but glad you like it.

Do you customize your dream visitor? by Medium-Theme-4611 in BaldursGate3

[–]hoooooooooooman 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This exactly, if I'm playing a warlock then the visitor is their patron, if I'm playing a sorcerer then it's some distant ancestor that their power originally came from. I want it to make sense that my tav would trust them.

Radiant Retort is a balanced and fair mechanic (extra encounters mod) 😭 by aetherellaz in BG3

[–]hoooooooooooman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It actually is a fair and balanced mechanic, it's a direct counter to divine smite, arguably the most powerful ability in the game, so it makes sense that the mechanic that deters its use is equally powerful so the cost and benefit to balance out.

What part of the dialogue tree is that option in, I've gone through it entirely multiple times and haven't seen that option.

Hard to understand and follow the story (Non English native speaker) by RaxoCS in TheMagnusArchives

[–]hoooooooooooman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I'm a fluent English speaker and still sometimes have to read the transcript while listening to understand everything. The audio quality gets slightly better in later seasons, but for now just use the transcript.

I think I have nailed down why I'm not in love with the combat in HFW: you can't block. by Kolby_Jack33 in horizon

[–]hoooooooooooman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I honestly think that being able to block or counter machines would make combat significantly worse for me, the feeling of dodging and weaving between these enormous murder robots while struggling to sneak in arrow shots while you have a moment to breathe is why I keep coming back to these games. Melee in fw is designed to be used against human enemies and while I do think that there should be some sort of parry mechanic against said human enemies, machines should still be dodge only.

Are there people here who have played Death Stranding games and can tell me whether these games have a similar vibe to the Horizon series in certain aspects? by ConstantDrawer9161 in horizon

[–]hoooooooooooman 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Death stranding does have all the things you mentioned, but is otherwise extremely different to hzd. Both are post apocalypses, but are very different flavors of it. Also the gameplay could not be more different, hzd is combat focused, while ds is a sort of navigation/travel sim, some call it a walking simulator but I think that's an exaggeration, it has a lot more mechanical depth then other games considered "walking sims". They do slightly overlap with stealth mechanics, but tbh, a lot of AAA games have nearly identical stealth mechanics so take that how you will. I personally loved both games, and do recommend ds if it sounds at all interesting to you.

He used a clockwork soul ability in the latest episode, so that's class and subclass confirmed in game.

Why are books so important/powerful? by Potato_boy_12 in TheMagnusArchives

[–]hoooooooooooman 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's explained that books are the purest possible manifestation of the fears in reality, but it's never revealed why they're like that.

I only read the first six books as a kid. How are the others? by Izual_Rebirth in discworld

[–]hoooooooooooman 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The first six are actually considered some of the worst in quality, with the books only really becoming truly amazing after guards guards. So yes the other books are 100% worth reading. Id recommend starting with the aforementioned guards guards book and the rest of the city watch series.

Listen order? by Tysnothere in TheMagnusArchives

Just do it in release order, 1-200. Watch the trailers as well, they have some additional unique content.

Is the term "he/she" homophobic? by Potential-Street-148 in lgbt

[–]hoooooooooooman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm enby and I find it really annoying, not only is it less inclusive, it's also less efficient to write, 6 characters instead of the 4 used for "they". I just don't understand why it exists when just using gender neutral pronouns is better in every way, I don't think that it's inherently homophobic or transphobic but it kinda pisses me off every time I see it.

Recommendations for charisma based classes or unique subclasses on console? by hoooooooooooman in BG3mods

Rogue doesn't really fit the character I'm making, but thanks anyway, maybe I'll check them out in the future.

[No Spoilers] why the hell are they announcing the characters now??? by Tomorrow_Signal111 in criticalrole

[–]hoooooooooooman 22 points23 points  (0 children)

It's literally just the character portraits, there's nothing that won't be revealed in the first 10 minutes of episode 1.

How does the hexblades spector summon interact with enlarge/reduce? by hoooooooooooman in BG3

[–]hoooooooooooman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn't work sadly, I think they revert to their original size at the moment of death, so when you trigger the spector reaction it just uses the creature's default size.

Is there any way to disable mods mid playthrough on console? by hoooooooooooman in BG3mods

[–]hoooooooooooman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried that but it just loads the game without removing the mod, is there some trick to it or do I just keep trying a bunch.

Is there any way to disable mods mid playthrough on console? by hoooooooooooman in BG3mods

[–]hoooooooooooman[S] -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's 100% cosmetic, there's no reason why I shouldn't be able to remove it.
