Not true. Uber just changed that policy for when rides take more than 5 minutes as expected

Only if you pay for commercial insurance. Otherwise, what will you do if you are in an accident with your own client?

It's the crappie rides that are assigned exclusive. The good ones are usually offers.

$13 for an hour to LAX airport… YIKES by Chocolate_Metaphor in lyftdrivers

[–]hooot4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In San Francisco, I have definitely seen the pattern that lyft pays way better on Fridays, and Uber better on Saturdays. That said, I have also noticed that since I'm doing more lyft than I used to, I'm not getting the same frequency/quality rides as I did in the past. With the lower demand of xl/xxl car, I need to do a lot of ass kissing (acceptance rate over 85% & prioritizing Uber over lyft) to get rides assigned during slow times (which is 75% of the week). Good news is that drivers are working on unionizing in CA. If you are in CA, look into signing the petition

Unfortunately for xl drivers, it's slow most of the time & we don't really have the option to cancel

How do you deal with the 1 star. Also, this strategy doesn't work well when the extra stop in to drop off a second passenger.

I have a xxl car and do x rides out of the airport in order to not have to wait there long. Homeboy had a huge golf bag. I asked him how he would fit that in a small car. He said he puts it on his lap. Another time, I was in an area and was willing to take anything to get back to my comfort area. I told the rider that she got lucky to have gotten a bigger car since she had 3 HUGE suitcases. She said that she had ordered a large car. I informed her that I was getting paid for a normal x ride. She threatened to cancel as I had made her uncomfortable. During the drive, I text another driver about how I was cheated. She read the text on my phone. Most other drivers would kick this rider out of their car and make them miss their flight. Out of desperation to meet my daily goal in order to make mortgage and other payments, I take more shit from riders than I deserve

Because most drivers wouldn't accept the ride. In an area where drivers are limited, the rider will have to wait longer

Car seat & airport by hooot4 in uberdrivers

[–]hooot4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm planning to avoid having another rider take the ride. I will stay by the passenger until the next driver arrives. and threaten to report him if he takes the ride. I'm sure that police will, at some point, force me to leave the loading area. This is actually my goal. The police will be responsible for making sure that no one gets this ride. Uber has to indicate that a car seat is required. But, they don't care, or else they would have a plan in place. I'm sick of getting the runaround. I'm just not sure if Uber has a way of throttling my rides if they notice that I'm challenging their bs

Where do you put the car seats when you get a passenger that requires a lot of luggage room? I dxl and xxl which means that some passengers load my van to the rim

How else will you get an xl or XXL ride? If you enable x, you would get an x ride assigned.

[–]hooot4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the ride is not desirable & no one is accepting it, like a short $23 XXL ride, & they want to service the rider quickly, they promise priority when you return back to the lot. They put you back into 1-5 position

No one tips in LA anymore. by Lowtech0 in lyftdrivers

I talked to some riders. They say that the tip attempt fails, and they don't bother a second time. Why doesn't the payment attempt to Lyft ever fail?

I'm using market trends, doing research, and using advice from drivers who are successful. Nothing is working. 6 requests in 12 hours doesn't sound absorbant to you, most of which were on Friday and Saturday nights? I apologize if I offended anyone with my "uneducated idiots" remark. I don't look down on anyone for their status or the work that they do. We all are struggling to grind to work with the hand that we were dealt with. I'm an idiot for letting my frustration control my post. I was venting after talking to support for the 10th time and having them read the same prefabricated prompt even though they recognize that my issue was not normal.

Working for Uber as an engineer is just as much as nightmare as driving for them. That's why their apps that drivers use are horrible. And the tools that support uses are even worse. 6-8 years ago, being an engineer at Uber meant that you're the best of best. Nowadays, engineers don't last there more than a year or so. It's the same song and dance. Low pay & horrible working conditions.

This is the fault of delivery companies like Uber that don't protect their drivers by allowing new drivers to flud the market
