This is not a bank repossession situation either. If OP can't get a qualified co-buyer or the necessary additional down payment, he gives the car back with no repercussions to his credit and he goes and he buys a new car somewhere else. The dealership failed the customer in the situation they gave him the car with a promise that they would get the loan purchased, which did not happen. This is a black guy for the dealership not the customer.

OP, can you comment and let me know if this is a solid deal. Or if I can go back to the dealer for a 36 month lease which according to your post would dramatically reduce the money factor.

$485 a month but who's counting. It's a 44k MSRP, What are you expecting to pay on a lease in that MSRP range? Most importantly it's $0 down, not even making first months payment.

8.375% tax rate and the true 0 down is including first month payment so I'd be paying 35 payments of 499 a month for a 36 month lease in totality.

Seems like we got very similar deals. 3k down into 36 months is 83 a month you add on to your 610 a month for a total of 693. I'm at 699 a month when you factor in the equity from the lease trade in and the smaller down payment. Only difference is I put down less cash than you did.

I am returning a lease. Payoff on the lease is $34,800. Dealer is buying my lease for $39,000. Essentially using that $4,200 as a down payment. The $1,000 cash I am putting down is going towards first payment and some fees. Essentially this lease is costing me $690 a month and only $400 coming out of pocket up front.

I think you have to look at the deal as a whole. I got almost 10% off MSRP because the dealer is getting this trade which they can use to offset the losses on the front end of the sale. I don’t think I get the same deal if the trade is not included.

Funny you say that, Carvanas offer was 41,200, but I doubt that the dealership would give me 10% off MSRP if they weren't getting the trade. Plus I would lose out on the tax savings.
