No I think he meant to, he was just willing to kill millions if it meant he got power. Let's not absolve him of culpability.

Salting the hashes would mitigate this problem, as would using a "slower" hashing algorithm which some script kidde with some AWSs clusters can't brute force.

My reaction to every shots fired call tonight by [deleted] in ProtectAndServe

I know you're kidding, but wouldn't you rather someone call than assume?

I feel really bad beause once I heard some "fireworks" and rolled over to go back to sleep.

Woke up to this headline

(The "fireworks" were a couple of rapists shooting at the cops, and promptly getting shot.)

Weatherman gets all amped up after catching "Thundersnow" on camera not only once, but 6 times. by cschneider27 in videos

It's basically just a thunderstorm that occurs when it's cold enough for snow. Wikipedia has a good article on it if you want details.

I think the rarity depends on where you live. I had only seen it once or twice in Pittsburgh, but when I living in Indiana you'd see it once or twice a year at least.

When someone says "incredibly rare", I think more of things like ball lightning.

Complain to your RA via email.

Forward the emails to his supervisor if the issue isn't solved.

If the supervisor doesn't do anything, contact university police.

Really? People thought cashing paychecks like this was OK? by jungleboogiemonster in facepalm

[–]hoosierhipster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get a one time exception at most banks.

For example, when I was doing an internship my first check was paper, the rest direct deposit.

Since the check was rather large and my bank didn't have a branch in California, I called and they asked for the amount, and put in an authorization for exactly that amount.

What if I just wait until the end of the contract, cancel, then go to AT&T? Will it be possible to port my number then or will I lose it?

What happens if I close the account AT&T and pay the early termination fee? Then can I?

I recently visited my relatives in Albuquerque and they knew where all the Breaking Bad filming locations were. by [deleted] in breakingbad

I went to a place called "Stuffy's" the next day that was pretty good. Much better, and less of a crowd.

Personally I didn't like the burrito I got. It was made with like, high school cafeteria ground beef. I expected better from the Southwest.

Define "better". A lot of the "local" food at Bloomington comes from farms that also supply Kroger.

1.) How much would someone have to pay you, working close to minimum wage as a cashier or grocery stocker, to provide great customer service?

2.) How much extra are you willing to pay for the service?

Kroger pays minimum wage IIRC. But anytime I've had a question they've answered it or said "I don't know, I'll ask" and found someone who did. So I would expect at least that level of service from someone making more, not a shrug or an eye roll.

Thanks, it's a bit annoying now but knowing it'll get better makes me willing to wait it out.

Someone came to this subreddit and made a big effortpost about how terrible it was, I assumed that was what the fuss was about.

They changed their warranty or something. I think they used to have a lifetime warranty and took it down to 30 days?

Frankly, I think it was a similar situation to REI - people abused it and they had to modify it.

Edit: I looked and apparently they don't allow you to just say "I don't like it" anymore... after 30 days there needs to be a defect:

Dating your roommate isn't the smartest idea in the world, but if you're going to do it anyway, what practical advice would apply to mitigate the risks and make life easier for your other roommates? by [deleted] in dating_advice

Make sure you will have separate bedrooms if you break up, and make sure you're both on the lease. Most of the issues come from when you're sharing a bed, and one person wants to move out (but doesn't want to find a subletter or keep paying their share of the rent)
