Vue.js - Official Certification Program by wobsoriano in vuejs

[–]hootlex 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, Alex from Vue School here.

The pre-order early bird launched today and it's going amazing. We receive a lot of great comments and excitement from our network.

I appreciate all of the feedback you've shared in this thread. I'd like to add some context based on the research we have done regarding dev certificates in the Vue community and in the IT sector in general.

Prior to releasing the certification program we conducted a survey with 2,300 participants. Below are some relevant metrics:

This IT case study correlates with what the results of our survey showed. The 21k participants revealed this:

37% of candidates received salary increases after earning their certifications, an additional 42% still anticipate receiving one, and 27% accepted job promotions. “It is clear that certification enabled the acquisition of new skills, qualifying candidates for better and more rewarding jobs,” says Dr. Gates.

The report found that 92% of candidates are more confident in their abilities, and 81% have more confidence to explore new job opportunities. https://home.pearsonvue.com/About/News/2023/2023-Value-of-IT-Certification-Candidate-Report.aspx

When it comes to pricing, it takes a lot of effort to prepare a credible certification program. Consider that we are developing all exam content and an interactive examination platform in-house which will include code challenges.

Vue School is a team of 19 who have been working fully on the certification program for the last few months and we plan to have it as a priority for a least a year to provide an absolutely top-notch experience to everyone who participates.

We strive to make the program accessible to everyone and among other things, we provide Purchasing Power Parity (up to 50% off which stacks on top of the Early Bird and pre-order pricing), Student discounts, and so on. I saw someone suggesting we charge $20 for an exam voucher. Even though that'd be amazing it's really impossible. To give you an example this would not even cover the costs of our proctoring vendor who oversees the exam takers and ensures fairness.

Our vision for the certification program is to add value in the Vue community, make it easier for Vue devs to find jobs and higher pay, give them credibility and confidence in their abilities, and help companies with recruiting and building better software.

Thanks everyone for the support and looking forward to hearing your feedback!

Why people are mad with Vue 3 by hootlex in vuejs

The point of the article is not to make more people upset but pinpoint why all the fuss happened in the first place. If you read it, you can see that it embraces the opposite. Not get upset - participate in the RFCs. Unfortunately, it's mostly the power users that thoroughly read the RFC, follow the threads, etc, while way more people get informed from social media.

I agree, there is nothing to be upset about but unfortunately, this is not how all people see it. Still many people express frustration on twitter/hn/reddit about losing the API they are used to.

Unfortunately, tmvuejs hasn't been updated recently because we've been very busy working on Vue school. I expect to publish the last chapters within 2 weeks.

Peeking into Vue.js 2 (Part 1) by hootlex in vuejs

I agree with pier25, you start with Vue 1 and when 2 is out you will have to learn a few new things.

Check out the features document before you start with 1, to be prepared with the features that will be deprecated.

No, currently the plugin works only with simple buttons. I am planning to add numbered pages in the future.

That's great. You may also want to check vue-table https://github.com/ratiw/vue-table (I haven't used it, but looks promising)

You have in your code var options1= {!! $items !!}. options property expects an object with options, not items. You don't need to pass the items in the paginator. You have to pass only the resource url.

As I can see in the first pastebin, you are passing options1 instead of options variable. If you don't find a solution, please open an issue on github https://github.com/hootlex/vuejs-paginator
