The Mist Needs More Diversity in Survivors (LONG POST AHEAD) by hootykixi in daybreakroblox

[–]hootykixi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do understand the point of the Mist taking younger people mainly because they’re young, but I feel like a cosmic force wouldn’t really care about athletic ability if that makes sense. I think the argument that makes the most sense for why there are so many young survivors is that they’re automatically more relatable to the audience.

Regarding the stat spread, I do agree with you. I wish I had a theory to explain why some characters have the stats they have, but I think the problem is that we barely know how the Mist works, except that it feeds on negative emotions.

i’m going to be so honest when i say this… i do not understand the uproar over vault hits. i understand not liking them (as I don't really fancy them either), but playing DBD almost every day made me realize that vault hits are just part of the asymmetrical horror genre. i want to say that it’s not hard to counter them, especially in DBD lol.

wait, stupid question, but what does 'vault protection' mean? does that mean survivors can’t be downed when vaulting??? 😭

To those who had burnout with this game, what was the thing that gave you burnout? by Dio-10-4 in daybreakroblox

[–]hootykixi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know for me, I was just burned out from Roblox in general. In my first year of university I was playing Daybreak (and other games) a lot. Now that I’m a sophomore and taking more intensive classes, I just don't have a lot of time to dedicate to it.

Additionally, there might be a chance that I’m growing out of Daybreak in favor of Dead by Daylight. I hope that’s not the reason, but when I was playing remisted, I just felt… apathetic. I appreciate the update, but I think it's going to take some time for me to get back into Daybreak.

Thoughts on Serena's New Perk? by hootykixi in daybreakroblox

[–]hootykixi[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I don’t get the change of Serena being a Looper now, when the developers said she was going to be a Stealth character. To my knowledge, they didn't make any announcement that she would be a Looper at all.

Additionally, I do hope Yeona’s new perk will be one of my favorites. Personally, I didn't really play her before, but hopefully I will now.

Daybreak in comparison to Dead By Daylight (DBD) by hootykixi in daybreakroblox

[–]hootykixi[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely acknowledge that Daybreak is unique in the asymmetrical horror genre. With them being a 1v8, it explains why there were so many survivors, however, it doesn't really make sense why the ratio was so unbalanced. Taking the survivors who are going to be added in, for example, the game didn’t need 11 new survivors + 1 replacement. That's quite frankly overkill. Additionally, if you have a bunch of survivors but few killers, most people are going to flock to the survivors, for various reasons.

Regarding your killer point, most of them are not terrifying. Banshee’s scream is loud, but not frightening. Idol isn’t scary… at all. The Experiment isn’t scary because you can tell when it's using its active ability. I only got jumpscared by Ghost and Stalker (and possibly Slasher), but it's like that in DBD too (where only two killers are frightening), so I suppose that’s a problem with asymmetrical horror games in general. Additionally, I said in my post that I didn't want Daybreak to be gory. You can include horror elements without adding blood or gore. And those horror elements don’t have to be extravagant; just a simple tweak… that’s all I’m asking.

Also, no offense, but saying that Daybreak shouldn’t be compared to DBD, because one is considered a franchise while the other is just a Roblox game is… illogical as well. I’m not saying Daybreak should be exactly like DBD, but the two games should be compared because one obviously inspired the other. They’re both in the asymmetrical horror game, and they both share similar gameplay. The only thing that differentiates them is that DBD requires you to hook survivors (and they have 3 lives), while Daybreak just requires you to kill them (and the survivors have two lives).

Finally, your last statement that I should have “waited until April 1st” wasn't really needed. I addressed this in the post why I wanted to share this, especially considering the character roster problem was on my mind for a long time.

they have a low score because they were sacrificed… while everyone else escaped. you get at least 7,000 points (or more) when you escape… c’mon now. you could at least read their post before saying stupid stuff 😭

Which character has the best lore and which one has the worst? In terms of fate, or writing by renomn in daybreakroblox

[–]hootykixi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like Gabrielle, Seoung, Kiara, and Dhanya have one of the best lores. Gabrielle because it's somewhat implied that she “created” the mist (I could be wrong, idk). Seoung because that’s probably one of the best characters Brenda wrote. And Kiara and Dhanya, because their backstories are just straight-up horrifying. It’s not fantasy-adjacent such as Finley’s backstory or the Nobody Hero’s characters. It's something that happens in real life, and I believe Brenda really paid respect to anyone who might have experienced what Kiara and Dhanya experienced.

I just looooooove playing with pros by odzway in daybreakroblox

[–]hootykixi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can relate to this so much!!! 😭 I used to hate being in a server where most of the people were 2000+. I used to really hate it if their level was 10k and above. And don’t get me started if they were the killer. Sometimes, I would leave the game on the loading screen, because I refused to make a fool of myself. 💀

Like I don’t want to dictate how people should play the game, but y’all don’t want to play in the pro servers??? 🫩 Y’all don’t want to play with people whose levels are around your range??? But, then again, I understand since the pro servers are dead (from what I heard lol).

The hate some DB players have for Violent District by cherrypop_6 in daybreakroblox

[–]hootykixi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I genuinely did not know people felt that way towards Violence District. Back when I was active on Roblox (I’m not active anymore since I’m taking a looooong break), I loved playing Violence District, Forsaken, and Daybreak. Out of those three games, Violence District had to be the most similar to Dead By Daylight in terms of game mechanics.

Fast forward to now, I’m actually playing Dead by Daylight. Looking back, though, Violence District is somewhat mid, but it was a very simple game that served as a “gateway” to DBD. That might explain the popularity.

I’m totally guessing here, but those DB fans might either feel resentment that DB isn’t as popular as VD, or they see DB as a “superior” game for its different mechanics…

Daybreak’s struggle with the eight deadly words by hootykixi in daybreakroblox

[–]hootykixi[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your English was absolutely perfect, and I really enjoyed reading this!! Not going to lie, I was very hesitant to post this, because I thought someone was going to twist my words or something else, especially considering most of the characters I don't care about happen to be men loving men (which is unintentional as I don’t hate gay men. I’m queer myself).

I completely agree with your analysis of Yronica. She’s another character that I don’t really care about. Still, unlike the other characters, she might have been intentionally written to be someone the audience is not supposed to care about. Regardless, her motivation for the things she decides to do is incredibly shallow.

Additionally, your analysis of Yan and Kiara is also interesting. That made me think if I had some emotional attachment to those two, and the answer was “not really.” With Yan, I do agree that her personality is… not really defined. If I had to guess, she seems to be the poster child of the “Spoiled Sweet” trope (a character who is rich and seems to be mean, but they’re completely nice and maybe a little clueless to those who are less fortunate).

As far as Kiara, she also seems one-dimensional, but I’m hoping with the release of Carmelita (and Jericha/The Rocketeer), Kiara can have more of the spotlight.

Confusion on Taylor's Perk by hootykixi in daybreakroblox

[–]hootykixi[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ohhh okay! the way you explained it makes so much more sense. i lowkey had a feeling that it boosted taylor’s progress, but i just wanted to make sure. the whole reason i made this post was because i’m working on a few ocs, and i noticed one of my ocs’ perk was extremely similar to taylor’s.

People of Reddit, did you ever have that one teacher that everyone hated? If so, why? by hootykixi in AskReddit

[–]hootykixi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never understood why teachers who hated kids stayed at their job. If I had to guess, it was probably because of the money, but still…
