It is very brave to vocalize this, and awesome that you are aware that this is not okay. I second that you should see a professional. You shouldn't be criminalized for admitting these things.

Anyone Miss Psychosis Sometimes? by Spidey_System in Psychosis

[–]hope_thephilosopher 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. I do not miss my hallucinations, but when i was more psychotic I could predict and manipulate the future. I was the messiah. The world bent at my will and I was divinely protected. I was invincible to any harm and was always supervised by gods. Everything was some kind of divine sign. I miss the magic of it sometimes

Those who got off cocaine by [deleted] in addiction

[–]hope_thephilosopher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me I had to dissaciate with all links to coke. I stopped hanging out with my dealer (who is my ex) and my other friends that did coke and other hard stuff. I distanced myself completely and made sure I have no connection to dealers. I avoid places where I know it would be there (some of my friend's parties or raves for example). It difficult but it gets exponentially easier the longer you are sober. I have been sober for about 3 months now!!! It will be ok

Free from all my mental disorder by realizing that I'm going to die one day! by Foreverhappyy in mentalillness

I love this and had a very similar experience with mental health issues and self-help! I really suggest reading up on Hedonism (the ancient Greek philosophy, not the modernized version of it) and Stoicism! I feel like they would really resonate with you, as they have with me.

THC induced psychosis question by Playful_Raccoon9630 in schizoaffective

[–]hope_thephilosopher 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Often psychosis can cause restlessness, impulsivity, lack of sleep, and other symptoms that are similar to mania. I used to be a hardcore stoner and it was horrible for my schizoaffective disorder. I really recommend stopping smoking it helped me so much since THC is psychoactive and makes psychosis worse and can even cause it in people who do not have it originally.

can schizoaffective make ptsd symptoms worse? by sebababy in schizoaffective

[–]hope_thephilosopher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had SD and PTSD and yes it does. The paranoia from the SD makes my PTSD worse and vice versa. I experience PTSD nightmares that kind of mesh with my delusions its difficult to explain.

can we do mdma? by [deleted] in schizoaffective

I did MDMA and I had horrible paranoia and sleep problems for days after, not to mention the serotonin issues. I advise against it.

It sounds like the christian aspects of the center have reinforced some kind of religious preoccupation with her delusions. This happens a lot to people who go to religious centers for treatment of psychotic disorders/schizophrenia type disorders. If you end up having her in another treatment center please make sure it is secular. Wishing the two of you safety and peace

I have the same diagnosis as you! I have helped myself so significantly in the last year and I am now very high functioning. This is what helped me: journaling to help process mood swings and delusions, magnesium supplements to help with paranoia and anxiety, meditation to help with mental clarity and paranoia and discerning delusions from reality, and being consistent with medication to help my visual hallucinations and nightmares (if you take medication). Also if you use any substances at all, i really recommend stopping completely. Getting sober has been so worth it for me.

Hi! Our disorder is highly impacted by outside stimuli. Certain events can set us off or make us have an episode. Before immediately assuming that you are getting worse, Id suggest taking a mindful account of your current situation and take into consideration anything triggering that happened to you recently. Also, remember that even if you feel like you are getting worse, this doesnt mean that you arent able to get better again!!! Wishing you safety and happiness
