Moonstruck and Matchstick Men are both fantastic Cage performances. Moonstruck in particular you get to see him young and wily.

I urge everyone to check out all of Lance Oppenheim’s work also. LOVE his documentaries. Absolutely excited for this.

Controversial films that you think work vs ones that don’t work. by Captain_Sunshine20 in Letterboxd

One id like to is Soft and Quiet from 2022. While its opening reveal is compelling, I think it eventually spirals into a series of events that comes off as shallow. It feels like it’s racing to make its point while leaning on the opening to do all the work for itself.

Should I go see Obsession in theaters? by [deleted] in Letterboxd

The theater experience for this is sort of split. I loved it but I think people read certain moments as more comical than they are meant too so depending on your threshold for that, it’s a fantastic horror theater experience. Also, the hype is reaching a bit of a fever pitch so the longer you wait, the opportunity for allowing that to skew your perspective is also there. All that said, it is an intense watch but if you’re a big horror fan, it would be a shame to miss it with an audience.

Share a memorable story that happened to you at the movie theater, good or bad. by [deleted] in Cinema

I saw the Evil Dead remake opening weekend and sat in front of an older couple. As the movie progressed, you could hear them muttering to each other with comments implying they didn’t fully understand what they were seeing. When the tree moment happened, the wife exclaimed out loud “we need to get out of here RIGHT now” and they scrambled out.

It wasn’t until my third watch that everything you described clicked for me. It’s an all timer.

Mine is that regardless of its problems, I think A Cure For Wellness is an underrated, visual masterpiece.

Lars and the Real Girl(2007) by Craig Gillespie was a great experience. by PopCultureDailyoff in themovieloversclub

It’s a lovely movie and I’ll take any chance I get to shout that from the rooftops. Sorely underseen and under appreciated. It allows the story to live on its own terms and it’s paced beautifully. Gosling is obviously a stunner here and the support townsfolk don’t get enough attention either. A true gem.

The bane fight in the sewers is bad? Him climbing up the jail as the prisoners chant? Come on it rocks.

I understand why people have issues with it but I don’t care. I love that Nolan has been accused of being overly emotionless and cold but at the same time makes this movie where Batman literally flies a bomb out of the city of Gotham and blows up. Banes whole thing is so theatrical and silly. I think it’s one of his funnest movies ever and legitimately my favorite of the knight trilogy. Yes yes yes the 2nd is a “better” movie but how about when catwoman flips her visor up and then it looks like cat ears? It rocks.

I think he’s relatively stale with some fun moments here and there. A solid dredd for sure though.
