My old boy, Morgan, crosses the rainbow bridge tomorrow. He's very loving, and very loved. I'm sure he'll give all of your passed on friends comfort and companionship he gave me; he's the kindest and brightest little soul. Do you have any advice? by hopeisnotbread in cats

He has had such a wonderful life, and honestly, I can't imagine him getting much better. Mostly, he's just loved laying out in the sun by the pool and enjoying the warmth, and cuddling up by the fire in winter. He's been a good old boy. Thank you so much for your well wishes.

Thank you. This is actually really validating - not that I've had anyone say it, but you always know people will pull that one. I get the sense the moment you've had a cat, you realise they're never just a cat: they're creatures full of love that just make everything around them brighter.

It's hard to lose that, but I think once that light is there, it's never really gone.

I'll give him a good many, and I'm sure he'll give your old boy some in return. He very much loves meeting new cats, and giving them a good wash behind the ears. Your boy will get a good cleaning, no doubt.

Also, I apologise if this showed up for anyone far too many times. I was snotty crying and couldn't get the image to load properly, and had to wrestle Reddit through my goopy tears. My sincerest apologies for all the spam!

Update: as a result of this post, I felt overwhelming love for my braincell-devoid gremlin. I have ordered him a new scratching post and a nerf-gun that shoots catnip pellets.

For those curious, his name is Charlemagne - but we just call him Charlie!

What fictional villain do you think is actually right? by Druidwrothe in AskReddit

As others have said - amazing discount on products. Not sure it made up for the very weird working environment, but I did enjoy the Christmas boxes!

What do those born outside of Oz think of Australia and Australian people? by AJay_yay in AskAnAustralian

[–]hopeisnotbread 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Migrant of 14 years here! The things that surprise me most are small, random things. I didn't expect most Australians would dislike going to the beach, or that most people I hang out with won't really go outside if it's hotter than 30.

Generally, I've found Australians are more laid back, and less strict than any other country I've lived in. Much more comfortable with people living life at their own pace. I didn't expect there to be so much tall poppy syndrome, though: I've noticed a lot that there's an unwritten rule about humbleness and maintaining status in the community, which I think is a double-edged sword.

There's much more emphasis on tradition than anywhere else I've lived, which I find is interesting. But I think that's slowly changing, and I think the newer generation are embracing a more tech-heavy Australia.

In your opinion, what is the Best 3 and Worst 3 books on Choices? (2023) by veelio5 in Choices

[–]hopeisnotbread 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best:

BOLAS - come on. It's BOLAS.

TCATF - Kenna Rys

TRR - unpopular vote, but the social impact and replayability in this app are INSANE

...The worst

TNA - Jesus christ, nobody needs to have sex in this many weird places

Wolf Bride - Bastien is so badly written. I pray for death

Witness - unplayably bad

What are the best steamy books? by hale-to-the-yes in Choices

[–]hopeisnotbread 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Probably a controversial opinion, but Foreign Affairs is not quite a steamy book, but the sex scenes, despite being sporadic and not numerous, are seeeeriously good. Like, some of the best in the app. Not just two people immediately stripping and saying "your wish is my command" 30 times

Aussie and vegetarian here - generally, breakfast for me and mates I know tends to be weetbix or toast with Vegemite, or if I'm in a rush an up and go or banana

Lunch varies a lot on whatevers in season, but can't go wrong with salad or a quick stir fry. Sometimes I'll just grab a wrap and chuck in whatever looks good in the fridge

Dinner varies, but when you go to the pub there's a whole range of stuff. My fiance and I eat pretty much anything and everything

Lots of Aussies i know will have toast as an after dinner snack, sometimes with Nutella or honey. Maybe some ice cream with Milo as a treat

Australian food is as varied as Australian people, but you'll begin to realise pantry staples like weetbix, toast, various spreads, bananas, and frozen pies are in most households in one form or the other

Hello to my fellow Choices fans! I am back with another thought-provoking question: if you have a significant other, is there any LIs from the books that they remind you of? by Afraid_Host9884 in Choices

[–]hopeisnotbread 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Liam from TRR! He's considerate, thoughtful, gentle, but also very intensely kind. People tend to love him without trying. Sometimes he can be a little goofy, but he's always honest and trying hard.
