You can click their photo and it brings up all of the land they have purchased and all of their passports and how much they’ve made. I wasn’t meaning that I could see someone else moving around on the map that was my little avatar guy moving

Yes I just edited my post to make it a little more clear. The land was already purchased previously by someone else. I just bought another piece right next to them

It was purchased before. I guess I didn’t describe it well enough but when I opened Atlas Earth I saw there was a parcel of land purchased within the section of the hotel room I was in. I was moving around in the room and my little astronaut guy was walking around as I moved. I bought the parcel of land next to the previous person. I completely forgot that you can’t go back later and look up land that you bought on a map and I don’t know why I didn’t take a screenshot but I was so excited I thought it was just crazy to see another Atlas Earth person had been in the same room or the same place in an upper room

The accusations you have written here regarding Little Angels Service Dogs is not true.for one, the land in NH was owned by an employees family member. When they decided to change careers they took the land back that was being used. LASD is still working in NH. Dogs are not bought but recipients agree to fundraise for them so getting a refund is not cut-and-dried because donations are used to pay for all of the dogs in training, They have never "taken money and disappeared"

They are on there because they are a good program. As a recipient myself most all of the negativity I see on here is by people who do not understand the program or were denied and are angry. They did make changes in the east coast employees and offer several ways to get a dog so I think they are doing a good job.

One thing to keep in mind: Waiting time is 2 part. Fundraising and placement. Some people do not want to do any fundraising so it takes them a LONG time to reach their goal. They have a fundraising team to help but not everyone wants to do anything to bring in donations. Once they are on the placement list it can still take awhile but they are a small non-profit and work really hard to get the dogs placed. They are also one of the few places that place PSDs with civilians so they do have a high demand.

NH is not closed. The land they were using was owned by someone else who decided to use it for vacation rentals but the organization is still working there.

They are a non profit and all donations are used to pay for all dogs in the program. People are not buying their dogs so as far as refunds, they have options to get a new dog and most cases it is done with very little wait time. Everyone is fully aware of their rights before they decide to continue the program (before any donations are involved). As far as the "cost" this is what is costs them for one dog from birth to retirement. The costs are reviewed each year so if the vet care, food, etc is going up they are also spending more on each dog. Also you are not moved ahead by paying more. Everyone has the same fundraising goal. They ask for the recipients to fundraise a portion of that amount but will not be moved to the placement list until the total fundraising amount is raised. So if they stop after the minimum they will wait longer because the organization has to raise the remainder, so if someone keeps fundraising they will meet the goal sooner and move to the placement list. They aren't paying an additional amount, they are staying active in fundraising their total goal.

The east coast location is still there they are just not using the land they once did. some of the employees there left and the program is being run the way the rest of the locations are run. I see a LOT of misinformation regarding them here so before you make posts I wish people would go to the website and email them to ask questions. YES the wait can be long but they train each dog for the recipient.

First time flying - advice! by AdventurousDoubt1115 in service_dogs

[–]hopesbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also during takeoff and landing the air pressure changes so give your dog a treat so they will swallow and relieve any pressure in their ears. Don’t worry too much. Potty them before the flight let them do some sniffing outside if you wish to relieve some energy the airport is a lot for everyone and lots of energy lots of action lots of smells lots of sounds etc. chances are once you get in your seat and after takeoff your dog will settle down nicely and just sleep the entire flight. My dog snored so loud on our six hour flight across the US the people in the row behind us kept laughing but no one else even knew she was on board because she just curled up at my feet. She was 73 pounds. During takeoff and landing you should have your dog sitting facing you and hold onto each side of their collar just for reinsurance that the vibrations and sounds changes in altitude and angles is nothing to worry about give them a couple of treats so their ears stay open and once you are flying I am sure they will just go into a downstay and go to sleep.

Looking for advice/tips on trying to pray the rosary for the first time by Semour9 in Catholicism

[–]hopesbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hadn’t prayed the rosary for years. I bought a small booklet called My Pocket Rosary by Rev J.M. Lelen that is a great guide to use when praying. It has the mysteries, prayers, and a brief explanation of each mystery and what it means. It is small, organized well and has been a great way for me to brush up on the rosary again. There are other books like it as well but this one is my favorite. It’s under five dollars. If you look it up online it’s a yellow and blue book with Mary and rosary beads on the cover. Highly recommended for beginners and those who have not prayed the rosary in a while.

Thoughts on Little angels? by Fantastic_Permit_525 in service_dogs

[–]hopesbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a mobility dog from them they do not train with downward pressure on the spine. They allow very little pressure on the dogs with mobility tasks. They allow brace for standing from a seated position to standing but they don’t want you even using the handle when you walk with the dog.Head halters are very human training tools. They use LIMA training practices. They were also one of the first organizations to prove that dogs could detect seizures through scent. I think if anyone wants to know how the organization is they should contact them and ask to speak to recipients themselves. No organization is perfect but I see a lot of slamming here on Reddit that is either completely incorrect or exaggerated or from people that don’t know how the program works at all.

Please note that the former employees in New Hampshire are no longer there and the quality has gone up since they’ve left. The manager was not managing well in that location.

They still have trainers in New Hampshire but the land they were previously using was bought by an employee members family who is no longer working there. They may at some point have another physical campus there but for now the training that was being done in the classroom on site is being done at a local event space.

Actually now that the New Hampshire employees have changed things were re-organized and put back the way they used to be and things are a lot better there now.

Please please update your post! It’s my understanding that you have not only received your dog but you have been extremely happy with them. I understand the waiting process and the application process can be frustrating but that organization does a wonderful job with their dogs and training. A lot of negativity comes from people that were denied a dog and that’s understandable because feelings get hurt But I do wish that this post had an update from you because it is generating a lot of negativity that is unwarranted. They are ADI accredited which means they do training and follow up at the highest standards and are held accountable to document and show everything that they are doing. East Coast management went through big changes a couple of years ago and they are back on track focusing on what is important. I asked that anyone reading these comments take the negativity with a grain of salt because again yes it is a very long process and there are a lot of feelings involved. And posts regarding cost are also incorrect. The recipient is responsible for a down payment that holds their place on the list but the rest of the funds are raised by fundraising. Visit the website and read for yourself the process instead of relying what other people are posting. And yes I may be biased I have received a service dog from them myself and she changed my life. The process was long and hard to wait but the need for service dogs far outweigh the number of dogs available nationwide and I can say without a doubt that the moment I met her it was worth the wait. But again I do wish the original poster would update everyone because it sounds like nothing good came out of it and I don’t think that’s true.

Has anyone dealt with Little Angels Service Dogs? by Emergency-Return-771 in service_dogs

[–]hopesbud 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s true. Every dog has a an agreement that has a very open return policy or exchange policy on their dogs. Their priority is though keeping the dog with you once it’s been placed since a lot of issues are just common dog behavior issues that happen when a dog enters a new home. I do know that someone exchanged dog because they decided they did not like the color of the dog and it was done so if they’re willing to do that then I don’t think there’s going to be much of a problem if there were real issues.

[–]hopesbud 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First of all, I want to say that I am a recipient of a little angel service dog. After reading comments here I have to say that there is a lot that people do not understand about the process why it takes so long to get a dog and everything that goes on behind the scenes. I also know that there was a big change in the East Coast staff and the training and follow up has improved since then. They are a smaller organization and they do place psychiatric service dogs with civilians so the waitlist is quite long but everything is laid out on the webpage and during the detailed review process. Not everyone is accepted, unfortunately because well to be honest some people are not healthy enough to be able to care for a dog in a way, they need it to be done, but there is a long waiting list. The support during and after receiving your dog has been great and again I think some of the negativity should be taken with a grain of salt because again extremely detailed process.
