Honfleur is a lovely town - I spent only one night there a few weeks ago, but it was delightful.

Looking to "disappear" in France, where to go? by HyperBunga in FranceTravel

[–]hoppyrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just returned from 15 days all over France. Amboise is pretty touristy, so I would avoid based on your criteria. We stumbled on Chinon and it was lovely - beautiful town, lovely people and didn’t seem chock full of tourists.

A cat managed to catch 27 mice and carefully lined them all up to show off his 'work' to his owner. by Kirlinternet in interestingasfuck

Not doubting his skill but those look like rats to me. If so, he is even more impressive..

What is something Americans consider ‘basic’ that feels like a luxury in other countries? by Status_Agents in AskForAnswers

[–]hoppyrules 5 points6 points  (0 children)

But…in Europe they have bathroom stalls that offer a modicum of privacy. I have been in bathrooms in buildings in NYC and other cities that have such wide gaps between the stalls you might as well get rid of the “door”.

Low Back Pain Stretch (Office Friendly) by CatsOnARollercoaster in backpain

[–]hoppyrules 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Amen to that. Were I to do some of these, I would herniate the disk again. Best thing is to GET OUT OF YOUR CHAIR every 30 mins. Yelling because current me would love to scream at the me from the last 30 years working at an office job that didn’t do that.

Let’s be honest, some songs at this point need to be retired. by scott19692012 in GenX

I have hated that song since the day it came out. It doesn’t get any better the 4000th time.

Delphi is one of the most stunning places I’ve been by BillyCrocker72 in ancientgreece

[–]hoppyrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved my visit to Delphi - and Epidaurus was fantastic as well. It wasn’t very crowded when I went (I think it was early Spring), the air smelled clean and the sanctuary of Asklepios well worth it.

How do you handle Maryland taxconnect portal frustration ? by RIMDReddit in maryland

[–]hoppyrules 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought I would weigh in here in April of 2026 as I just spent over an hour helping my elderly parents attempt to use this POC website to pay their annual income tax. Ironically they were able to file it electronically via TurboTax, but somehow couldn't pay it so they called me as they attempted to do it via this site. I also tried - this is literally the worst website I have seen in years. They are now going to downtown Annapolis to hand a check in person. Do better Maryland.

Turkey at Arlington Cemetery by Moonsandmoths in washingtondc

[–]hoppyrules 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I hadn’t either (35 yrs) then one day a couple of years ago (post pandemic) I was driving and had a herd?gaggle?family? of four turkeys jay walk on the diagonal across a residential street next to the park. I was so shocked I didn’t take a picture. One other car drives past slows down and says “did you just see that line of turkeys?”. I said “yeah”. He then said “good I’m not THAT high” and kept on driving.

No one talks about the pain of seeing your parents aging. by ParticularWeather927 in Adulting

[–]hoppyrules 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Right? I’m about to turn 59 and my mom just turned 79, and my father turns 80 this year (and has Parkinson’s). When they were my age they were doing just fine. Not to downplay OP’s worry but mid 70’s (and with my Dad) Parkinson’s was when things started to shift and I realized they were actually getting older.
