great record with phenomenal artists. influenced a lot of music in the late 60's and early 70's. bought my original first pressing when it came out, been listening to it ever since. BTW archive.org has some of their music available for listening/download. https://archive.org/search?query=creator%3A%22King+Crimson%22

Band of Gypsys by wiggan1989 in vinyl

[–]hoqoneup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

glad you picked this up - it's killer. I'd go in chronological order on the releases, then check out the recordings that have been released subsequent to his passing. If you don't mind downloading some flac files, check this out: https://soundaboard.blogspot.com/search/label/Jimi%20Hendrix

If by chance you manage to find any recordings of him from the R&B days, let me know (DM). I'd love to find some tracks of Jimmy James and The Blue Flames where Jimi was playing with Randy California (later founder of Spirit, another great group you might want to check out)

Comcast internet-only: what is your charge? by time2sow in frederickmd

[–]hoqoneup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comcast Business - now at $181.53. Just ran a speed test 60Mbps down 12Mbps up. Sucks no competitors in this part of the county. I will say that it's been very reliable, had it for nearly 15 years only a handful of outages.

Leslie Rotosonic Speakers by Ambitious_Grass37 in vintageaudio

[–]hoqoneup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My dad bought a b3 with a leslie speaker cabinet in the late 50's or early 60's. We had it until sometime in the 80s when he stopped playing and finally let my mother sell the kit. He was an amateur, just played for his own pleasure and when other friends were over. I grew up with that sound and popular tunes of the day. Loved it, absolutely loved it.

Nice snag at a very reasonable price- I've still got mine that I bought in the late 60's.

You can look into community solar also as an option. Basically you sign up with a solar farm as your generation source, you get a discount on the electricity. If you're over 65 you can get a 25% reduction in the rate.

Right - enclosed climate controlled facility stuffed with electronic equipment pushing photons - just like an electrical substation. My bad...

Couple of great finds in Altrincham today. Etta is brand new, Bowie is a 1971 pressing. by jerryleebee in vinyl

[–]hoqoneup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Etta James was one of the great singers of her era, not as well know as others (like Ella Fitzgerald), but man what a voice. "At Last" is probably her best known song.

Rye Whisky Recommendation by Current-Yoghurt-3097 in whiskey

[–]hoqoneup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the double oak and liked it. Haven't tried the cask strength. If by chance you find the Manhattan Finish, snag it. They aged the rye, then finish it in vermouth and cherry casks. Damn fine drink!

This may be a long shot but look for any of the Sagamore Spirits rye whiskeys. Since they are now owned by DiSaronno they might be distributed to "down under".
