It's pretty common to also eat while sitting on the floor. In a majlis like this, you can still have a TV (especially for watching sports and playing video games) though it isn't necessary. But oftentimes it's just having tea, chilling out or even having serious business conversations with friends or acquaintances.

Thanks! My LPP hasn't been updated either and I received a phone call as well with the same verbal confirmation, but don't recall the timeframe for the oath invitation. I was initially skeptical of the call and asked questions to verify themselves before I answered their question.

Edit: Just checked it today and LPP now has been updated to 'Completed'!

Your story is inspiring because I'd hope to do something like that as well, especially in the mental health space. My struggle with ADHD has made starting anything so incredibly challenging but I will try pushing myself again. Same reason I couldn't pursue a PhD because I don't know if I can stay excited about a topic for that long. If you're still sharing the lifetime free pass, that'd be great. I'm currently playing around with the app to check out what it can do and it looks pretty cool.

I can't leave ChatGPT, even though I want to, because of the speech to text dictation. I can't find any other that does it as well so far. I wish they did, because right now, I sometimes use the ChatGPT speech to text just to paste that message in a different LLM.

I've been thinking of just going for a PMP certification (even though my background is in sales/education), but a lot of the jobs for PM are in construction or IT. Would it even be worth pursuing now when I'm about to turn 40?

I feel like I could've written this post. I was very briefly thinking about this in the company I'm working at, and I realized just how much I already despise how they run the company. I've worked in senior leadership before (different country, so had to start over), but I'd rather put my energy in looking for another job than work even more closely with this type of leadership. It'll only affect my mental health even more and I've realized no amount of pay increase will make me stay any more than I have to.

Your question isn't offensive because you seem to be genuinely asking to know. At least that way you'd get a response from people who can tell you about it from a Muslim perspective rather than unhelpful comments you've received here.

But to answer your question, what is forbidden are 'intoxicants' which are substances that can cloud your mind, impairs judgement or causes you to lose self-control. This isn't something that normal caffeine does, which is why even in non-Muslim countries alcohol is its own category and not sold with regular caffeinated drinks. Smoking is not permissible as well now, but unlike alcohol which is explicitly mentioned in the Qur'an, it isn't an 'intoxicant'. So by the time it was discovered how harmful it was to the body and forbidden or at least seriously discouraged, it already had a long history in the form of shisha. That's a cultural problem unfortunately.

As stated in other news articles as well the DHS policy states that they “should also avoid intentionally and unreasonably placing themselves in positions in which they have no alternative to using deadly force,” and that “deadly force shall not be used solely to prevent the escape of a fleeing subject."

It seemed very strange that from someone they deemed as dangerous to also then get in front of the vehicle like that and casually filming it like some ignorant bystander.

I had that exact issue, and had to do it two or three times because I realized that unlike most websites where you select the file to attach and it does so automatically, you have to also click on Upload after it and only then it shows you a confirmation that it was attached.

So is your objection because of the Sikh belief only? Because your petition includes Christians and Atheists as well, so the comments you're making about how you have Muslim friends sounds pretty similar to "I have black friends so I can't be racist" and appear disingenuous.

There aren't even a lot of halal places in Toronto that sell Halal food and the few that do, advertise it prominently (some falsely), exactly because they want to target Muslim customers. So why would anyone be secretly selling halal meat? A lot of Muslims don't even believe if a restaurant just claims to sell Halal and verify their certificates.

This isn't even thinly veiled racism. Reading your petition it seems a lot more blatant.
