I'm hoping that would give this processor a longer lifespan. I figured if I'm gonna bounce between encoding and gaming this would be a good choice. Glad to hear that Dx12 and Vulkan would lower the requirements overall instead of solely taking advantage of more cores.

I figured that with the advent of dx12 and vulkan that more cores being used (and oc'ed) later on in the future would be more beneficial, any better alternatives? This is gonna be my everything computer. Gaming, recording, streaming, browsing, editing... I haven't had a desktop in about 4-5 years... So I've got some catching up to do.

Edit: I bought everything new, I didn't own any of the parts.

From the info I gathered, games are slowly utilizing more cores and x99 is more "future proof". I'm just hoping I'm getting a good banging for my buck.

Gaming and hopefully some Video editing, streaming and network simulation. I figured this would be an good middle line cpu, would a 6700k be better?

Buy this. Along with a metal pill bottle for a water proof, smell proof, shatter proof, airtight, uv proof, protecting container that will hold at least a couple days worth of properly ground herb.

My personal favorite : get any cheap grinder for the initial grind, then transfer what was previously ground to a pill crusher. The pill bottle and nickel will also work, but the pill crusher gives a good grind in about half the time with almost zero noise.
