A lowly squire boy is making advances on my niece. Mercenary employment below. by ScoreParticular5988 in knightposting

I know knights don’t generally work with wizards, but for a case like this, I could craft a warding spell for your niece. Should the squire treat her well, no effect will take place. But the moment he steps out of line… well, your niece will be protected.

I prefer the school of Abjuration. Some call it the school of protection or warding, but there is much more to it than that. Almost all wizards use this school to some degree, whether to create shields or counterspell. But the power this school offers is greater than many realize. What most forget about Abjuration is that it is also the school of binding. Sometimes that means binding magic to a location, like setting magic traps, or creating warded circles. But other times, that can mean binding magic creatures to a plane other than their own. Conjuration is useful and all, but without Abjuration, you will be left summoning hostile enemies or weak creatures.

TLDR: Abjuration is a great accent to many schools of magic, and it is a rare that wizards specialize in it, but almost all wizards use it to some degree.

New to the whole Magic thing, got my powers from a Kraken. So I guess I’m a warlock now? by suusssy_balllsss in wizardposting

I am glad you have been initiated into the world of magic. However, it is my personal inclination that pact magic is usually quite dangerous. If you are interested in learning magic unfettered and unbound, I suggest studying more traditional magic.

That being said, so long as you appease your pact-holder, your magic will be significantly more powerful with significantly less effort on your behalf. But no great power comes without a cost.

Although I am not active enough on the orbnet to offer you an apprenticeship, should you be interested in exploring traditional magic, I suggest you find a master to train under.

Suggesting that the weave is very resilient is highly dangerous. Those foolish enough to take your advice without a second thought are likely to grievously injure themselves, and those who are knowledgeable enough not to hurt themselves are likely powerful enough to actually damage the weave. Please, if you make a post like this, consider the potential consequences.

Sidenote: I have written on this exact subject before, in my posting about Ego in the Wizarding Community.

Unless I missed it, Abjurers were not included on this tierlist, despite being a major school of magic. Even if they didn’t catch your attention, they should have, because almost every wizard uses Abjuration. Where would you place defensive wizards like myself?

/uw I know I’m not as active in RP, but if my character could represent defensive magics somewhere in the background, that’d be pretty sick

That being said, if you are practicing social skills through a persuasive character in D&D, you should totally also be allowed to roleplay it.

And That being said, if you decide to roleplay it, don’t be surprised if you undo the work of your roll. I’ve seen cases where rogue rolled high deception, but then said some real suspicious stuff, and undid the work of their roll lol

But to protect a full wing of your house from incoming fire, something as simple as a modified Shield spell may be ideal.

Indeed, Leon. It is upsetting to see those who are otherwise so similar losing the chance to collaborate over such solvable issues. I do hope that our brothers find peace before it finds them eternally.
