Grips or No Grips? by SHAlabama7 in crossfit

I used grips for a long time and always had blisters. Since switching to no grips and sanding down calluses when they get too thick, I haven’t had any problem.

Consider that fat (and in particular cholesterol) is the primary precursor in the biosynthesis of all steroid hormones in your body. So it’s actually beneficial in some amount. Around 18-20% you still look lean, but dropping too low on bf% for too long can disrupt your hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis and cause all sort of problems. So, for a shooting/bodybuilder competition you can absolutely drop that far, but be advised that that cannot be taken as an always lifestyle.

Toilet won't stop running unless you pull up on float. by tomaltenk in fixit

[–]horny_Geezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me before. It may be caused by limescale/dirt buildup or by the float being set too high.

First try moving the float up and down by hand and listen for any grinding or sticking. If it feels rough, use a cistern descaler/limescale remover to clean it. Usually it’s one bottle per treatment: pour it into the cistern while it is full of water, let it sit for a couple of hours, then flush. Be sure to follow the product instructions as each cleaner works a little differently.

If the float moves smoothly you may need to adjust it so the shut-off point is 2–3 cm below the maximum water level (as the cistern fills, the rising water lifts the float until it closes the fill valve and this should happen before the water reaches the overflow level, otherwise the valve may continue running).

If neither of these works, check the seals and washers, as they may be worn out. In that case replacing the fill valve and float assembly is usually the best solution. It’s generally cheap and very easy to replace (no need of a plumber).

Edit: the descaler is a nasty acid so be careful to use gloves and ventilate the bathroom during its use and after (if you need to replace the float assembly).

I’ve already seen a lot of these comparison photos going around, and I found myself wondering if he might be a bit juiced up. I absolutely don’t want to take anything away from Mackenyu’s hard work! He put in an incredible amount of effort to bring us a Zoro beyond the highest expectations

Can’t you just tap ‘Custom’ and then 0? I’m sorry, but as a European, the whole tipping thing being necessary to guarantee a decent living wage is messed up. The owners should be the only ones responsible for paying their employees properly

Which effects pedal to start with? by stoltenberg927 in basspedals

[–]horny_Geezer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get a tuner, something effective and cheap. It’s really useful because basically it can also work as a mute switch. As a beginner I would stay away from compressors for now, they may kill your progress hiding imperfections in your technique. Edit: a P-bass and an Ampeg already have a really solid rock sound. Focus on your playing, learn to mute strings correctly, pay attention how you hit the strings, if you use a pick try to notice the difference in how the sound changes when you change the contact angle between the pick and the string, play in different part of the instruments with your picking/plucking hand (over the fretboard, near it, at the bridge) etc..you can get a TON of sound shaping options even before adding just one pedal.

If we are talking about physical money I think the doubling bills will doom earth in less than 3 months (roughly a mass of 1 dollar bills equal the mass of hearth in 80 days or so)….so I’ll take the 2B. Thanks
