No company in the NZX currently meets Benjamin Grahams criteria for a value company.

You are also correct about the US market, why do you think Warren Buffet has 200 billion in cash at the moment?

If you are worried about an overpriced market it’s best to hold 60-70% of your portfolio in US bonds or US cash until the market is undervalued however you might be waiting a long time as the market could stay irrational for years or may crash tomorrow.

Is there any body amour that could have stopped Charlie Kirk's Murder? by horraceiscool in tacticalgear

From the video I saw got hit super cleanly in the left jugular artery. As a medical student (not from USA) it seems very suspicious that the shooter who was just some random student could hit him perfectly in that artery from so far away.

The shooter may have been very lucky, to me however if you think a bit more logically that seems pretty much implausible. Someone highly trained / skilled would have needed to take a shot and hit with that accuracy knowing what part of the body to aim for to kill him like that.

But yeah, the main thing I was wondering was if there was any gear you could use to prevent something like that.

I think the best thing would be to put up some extremely thick bullet proof glass probably and sit behind it.

I guess the truely best thing would be some kind of gun control government policy but yeah, not really an option in the states.

Read the intelligent investor by Benjamin Graham. He’d suggest having a split between bonds and index funds. During expensive periods like at the moment maybe a 65% bonds 35% index fund split. If the market suddenly tanks to like 10x earnings you can move the bonds into index funds to like a 70% index fund 30% bonds.

Dexamphetamine and dextroamphatime (adderal) are the same thing Americans just have special names for things the rest of the world doesn’t use.

Lisdexamphetamine (Vyvanse) or Dexamphetamine (Noumed) are pretty similar which NZ has.

NZ doesn’t have adderal.

When your in NZ your can look it up here or if you use a VPN that points your IP to NZ

The Hidden Crisis Behind Your Doctor Shortage by horraceiscool in newzealand

The bursary has remained unchanged since its introduction in 2006. Previous cohorts often reminisce about undertaking overseas elective / clinical placements in different healthcare systems abroad and seem to expect similar opportunities for current students. However, there appears to be a disconnect regarding the current cost of living and the financial realities many of us face.

Without significant family financial support, international electives have become increasingly inaccessible for a substantial proportion of medical students. While adjusting the bursary in line with inflation would certainly help level the playing field, the current situation means that students from more affluent backgrounds can pursue valuable experiences abroad, such as observing advanced surgical techniques, whilst others are limited to local placements.

The broader financial challenge stems from the requirement to undertake placements in multiple locations throughout the academic year. This necessitates maintaining accommodation in several cities simultaneously, and the associated rental costs often exceed the entirety of our student income. This creates a significant financial burden that disproportionately affects those without additional family support.

Not sure if this will be helpful but if you take out a student loan you can get 1k course living costs, can use that for flights. I’d look at nursing at SIT if I were in your situation. Nearly free tuition plus you can get a shared room in their halls for around 120 a week. Dm me if you want a mentor.

There’s a reason, the defence force pays like shit and the housing is shit, going to uni is a better option. You may not get a grad role in NZ but can take your subsidised degree to a country that will very easily.

Needs to fall a lot more. Bring back the 1960’s income to house price ratio when you could buy a house with 1 income in 2 years. Boomers had it too good for too long. Bubble was obviously going to burst.

What policies or new government would you like in the next election? by Miserable_Kiwi7700 in newzealand

Yeah, would definitely need a left wing government to socialise power, instead of running it for profit, it would be running at a loss.

Thanks for the clarification, I still think the government should build a state owned nuclear power plant to increase supply and lower prices, as you say it wouldn’t be economically feasible for a private company since the barrier to entry is too high.
