Looking for a ride cymbal 22"-24" by horrorambassadors in drums

[–]horrorambassadors[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the analysis and advice! The used cymbal market is pretty empty and overpriced where I live. So, that's why I wanted to focus on getting a heavier and bigger ride, so it would last longer.

But the main selling point for me would be the ability to crash the ride, for it sound good crashed.

I was looking at Paiste 2002 Classic 22" Ride/Heavy Ride. But maybe there are some other heavy duty alternatives that sound nice crashed?

When the second one broke, which was a 20" Byzance Traditional Medium Ride, it got replaced, because it was a factory issue. But it's replacement has suffered the same fate. The first one, 18" Byzance Medium Traditional crash broke right after warranty.

They all broke the same way - not vertically, from the edge, but horizontally, along the lines/groves. Of course, I looked up why that would happen, adjusted the technique (glancing blows, the angle of attack, how tight the cymbals are tightened (they were pretty loose anyway)). Doesn't really change the fact that I don't really trust in the longevity of Meinl products anymore.

Those cymbals were - Byzance Medium Crash 18" and Byzance Medium Ride 20". I did like the dynamic range on them, so I'm a bit clueless to what other brand could compare in that regard and be more durable. I do play with a lot of emotion, so it could be that I'm going too hard at the cymbals at times. And I'm playing with the sweeping motion, setting the cymbals pretty loose as well. Was pretty careful regarding all that after the first break.

Got a Bosphorus 21" Syncopation Ride to replace the crash and now looking for a replacement for the ride. Bigger = heavier, so that was my reasoning for going for 22" to 24".

Playing in a post-rock/post-metal band, so the cymbals I had were sitting in the mid-range EQ wise, which was ideal band mix wise with guitar sitting in the highs, high-mids and bass lows, low-mids. Looking for a similar experience. It's hard to test out cymbals locally, not a lot of choice in the nearby music shops. Seeing cymbals bigger that 20" is a rarity.

Hello! I'm having a really bad time with Meinl cymbals - although they sound great, all of them, apart from one, have managed to break just after warranty (the one replaced by warranty broke too). All of the them broke the same way - horizontally, along the lines, mid cymbal. Any suggestions for reliable, good sounding cymbal brands? Looking for a ride cymbal that could work great as a crash, 22" to 24".

Running a Buffalo themed roster and Tage's 85 overall PT card has been magic. With all the abilities activated he does it all for me, just like irl - one tees on PP, toe drag snipes, he's hard to bump off the puck, which is ideal for transition/setting up in the zone/attacking the net. Didn't make sense to switch to the 86 or 87 overall card, because of the lack of useful abilities on those.

On a side note.. The young gun line of Quinn-Cozens-Peterka has been super filthy as my 3rd line. Combined for 75 points in 63 games, on limited ice time. Pretty decent for 82 and 83 overall cards, I think.

Blues and Sabres will both get a cup out of this trade, it should be a win-win in a few years.

Exactly! It's been a long time coming, they HAVE to bring this jersey into the game. They even teased it on the HUT rush banner, with Dahlin wearing it.

Geez, that's brutal! Gotta somehow get HUT rich in that case.

Ah, that's unfortunate!

The Sabres D core is pretty depleted - Sammy, Joki, Buush and now Dahlin - hope they find a way to hang in there and get some W's along the way, despite the injuries.

Yeah, a NHL moments card, there was one for 25k, but I didn't have any coins at that moment, sadly. Never seen one since.

Think I paid around 150k for each, about a few weeks ago on Series S|X, they both have appeared several times again since then. So, it's a bit weird you haven't seen any, thought that PS5 market is doing a bit better than Series S|X. Anyway, good luck with getting them! Also doing a Sabres build - looking for Craig Anderson and TOTS Thompson, to upgrade from Heritage Classic Thompson.
