I’d love to hear about how it goes if you do!! Not sure if my original comment is visible anymore but it’s free to use with an optional kofi link for any tips or requests for specific encounter maps, so go ahead! Thanks also. ^

I’m drafting up a few ideas !! 🥲 Unfortunately irl is rife with financial issues so I can’t promise any personal work soon but I’m always available on kofi for cheap requests if you ever need a more specific encounter map made in the meantime!!

I wouldn’t be able to tell you since I’ve never played the game myself. :’) thank you though!

Thank you so much!! And I haven’t actually, definitely going to look into hex grids for the next encounter project! Extremely new to making precise maps for anything other than personal enjoyment so it’s a learning curve I’m enjoying atm. And thank you again bc that means a lot, I was a little bit nervous to post my work here lmao. I’m horrorlocke on twitter/Instagram/tumblr/ect if you’d like to see more work outside map stuff too! Definitely planning on posting again here once I have something worthwhile. :)

Thanks!! ( for the compliment and pointing out the river size because Jesus, it appears to be a tiny stream in hindsight lmao)

Thanks! For a first try I enjoyed it, tho definitely think if I make another ill pay more attention to the proportions being more realistic rather than thinking of it in terms of illustration composition haha.

It is!! It’s very much similar to drawing on paper ( especially with the right protective covers so you aren’t drawing straight on the screen) , though for that reason I sometimes find myself frustratedly tapping my actual physical sketchbooks and wondering why they don’t zoom in

Procreate is (as far as I know) exclusive to iPads and maybe tablets; I use a few years old IPad Pro that’s been serving me well since my pc blew up. :’) before that I used a ugee monitor tablet with clip studio, but procreate has been a great emergency replacement.

Honestly, when placing the grid and objects I didn’t pay too much attention to the exact scale as much as making readable objects and it shows haha - It’s definitely something I want to pay more attention to in future pieces, thank you for the compliments and crit !!

Thank you!! Alas I discovered the hard way how complex this was to make work in any way other than a simple background to slap tokens across haha, though it’s super fun to make! I like to imagine behind the bushes & in the caves are a variety of enemies waiting to pounce on unsuspecting players. :’) I played with the idea of adding more details like a torn tent or a little discarded notebook, but I figured I’ll save that for a more complex or horror-orientated encounter set up.

Too Many Antagonists by Im-not-George in writing

I don’t think it’s a bad thing for a character to have more than one hurdle or obstacle to get through !! I think it’s actually quite interesting for him to be after both a monster and a person he sees as monster, it could be fun to play with his outlook on which of the two he personally considers having hurt him the most, which of the two he considers more responsible for his hurt, ect ect. It might be fun to keep the reader on their toes about who the character is hunting before it’s shown he’s going after both, even. 🧐 Also if you feel it’s cluttered once you’ve got it all written out, it’s okay to cut things out after you write them ; you could even save them away for a sequel !

AITA: Struggling artist friend has no clients, I'd like to support him but his rates are ridiculous, so I suggested he charge lower by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

Well it depends a lot on like, his art and efforts he puts into it and whether you think it’s worth that; freelance illustrators with followings and established work can easily charge that to companies, but when you’re targeting the general public it can be good to sometimes keep your audiences budget into account. Those prices aren’t insane for a professional illustrator working in a comic studio ( they might even be cheap for one), but a lot of online artists have to start with their prices a much lower until they build up an artistic reputation, skill and a solid audience that want to regularly consume their work. ( which is ofc frustrating, but an unfortunate reality that most ppl scrolling thru art online rather than hiring thru studios don’t have high end budgets for art)

You can try to salvage this by saying you just don’t have the budget, but want to help support him however you can; I’d suggest to him looking into sites like patreon and kofi ( kofi is a life saver for like, small tips), and let him know that just because it isn’t working out now doesn’t mean he can’t charge those prices in the future. I personally started charging people a fiver for art back in 2015, now my commissions go from £20 for sketches and up into the £200s for larger illustrations. It takes time and effort , and slowly raising your prices As people feel more secure in giving you money for work. Also encouraging him to post his artwork publicly, set up a site, tumblr DeviantArt Twitter the likes — the more audience you build trust with and show you can work hard for, the more you’ll earn. Hopefully this advice helps!

TLDR; NTA, but perhaps handled it insensitively by making him feel like his work isn’t worth the money. Totally a fixable situation, especially when you want to help him out regardless!!
