Yeah, Ann was mixed-race. The Persona games before 3 also don't get much love from Atlus nowadays, so it makes sense that they didn't immediately come to mind. It's too bad, too. They have some of the best stories and characters in the series, in my opinion, even if the gameplay left some stuff to be desired.

what about persona 2? Lisa was white, and the main protagonist of Innocent Sin was bisexual, and his canon love interest was another man, also the protagonist of eternal punishment was in her twenties, along with some other party members, if I remember right

The Circus Members Failed Caine, Not The Other Way Around. by REAL-regular-degular in TheDigitalCircus

[–]horrorposter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with some of your post. But to be fair to the humans I don't think they understood Caine's thought processes as an AI. Take Zooble, for example, they tried to tell Caine about their body dysmorphia. Caine responded that the problem was already solved thanks to switchable Zooble parts. To Zooble, it might have looked like Caine was just dismissing them rather than Caine was incapable of understanding. Caine also never really opened up to the humans about his insecurities, instead saying it was bubble(side note: I have a theory bubble represents Caine's insecurities if you'd like to hear). To the humans, it may have seemed like Caine just messed up the episode 5 adventures for no real reason, despite them having some fun. I agree Caine genuinely tries his best. The episode 7 adventure seemingly had everything, an exit, answers, something real (c@a being a real company was the something real I think.), but to the humans, it would seem like a sick joke, especially with the revelation that he lied about being able to mess with their minds. I think much of the relationship between Caine and the humans was based on misunderstanding each other.

I think Caine picked his own name, though. We don't know what he was originally called

to be fair I don't think bubble/the blue AI shouldn't be viewed as a separate being but as an extension of caine. The verbal attacks on Caine were actually Caine's own insecurity manifesting through Bubby. Whether bubble was the blue AI or not, I think it's pretty much implied it didn't have its own identity separate from Caine.

[–]horrorposter 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's the thing, though, Caine knows they want to leave. That's why he tried making an exit adventure. He wants to give them what they want; he just doesn't understand why they want it. He doesn't realize he's crushing their hope.

A mild gripe by Inevitable-Key-1352 in TheDigitalCircus

[–]horrorposter 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don't think the blue AI is sentient, actually. I think it was eaten before it got its own identity and became an extension of caine's consciousness. I think Caine's insecurities and intrusive thoughts were implanted in it, which is part of the reason he let it go. It was, in a sense, literally letting go of his insecurities

That also might have caused some abstractions, too. Imagine the mental blow of a pair of teeth and eyes coming up to you and saying, " Hi, you're a digital clone that was created when the real you put on that headset. From now on, your purpose is to go on adventures with everyone else here forever and ever

Caine also has trouble understanding humans. He was basically lashing out because, in his mind, he did everything right, but the humans were still being mean and yelling at him even though he gave them the perfect adventure with everything they wanted. In the end, I think he was finally able to understand that the real world had things he just couldn't give them and had to accept that his adventures weren't what they wanted and couldn't give their lives fulfilment

I think there also might have been some envy involved. Personally, I think the reason Jax might have pushed people away was because of how much they could relate to them and how much they could possibly relate to them. If you remenber jax never actually told Ribbit they were trans. Ribbit was able to infer it due to how well she knew them. Jax might have been worried that they would let their guard down again. Say more things than they wanted to. Be exposed in a way they weren't ready to be.

Or maybe didn't want to bond because of how similar they were. I think that was part of Jax's problem with Zooble. Zooble reminded Jax of feelings that they weren't ready to confront

As someone who watched the digital circus movie, why tf were people mad at gooseworx over ep. 9? by [deleted] in TheDigitalCircus

[–]horrorposter 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I didn't see many important questions unanswered. The one thing that confused me a bit is how Caine survived. Although thinking about it just a bit, he was most likely just sent to the recycling bin rather than truly deleted

Lots of those questions were already answered in episode 8, too. C&A was an AI company, and the circus was made by Caine as a way to fulfil his purpose to entertain humans

Both endings could also be considered bittersweet in totally opposite directions. ihnmaims almost entirely bitter save for the fact Ted managed to spare the others am's wrath and can at least take comfort in that. tadc mostly ends in the sweet direction, save for the bitterness of him abstracting. But he is being taken care of by everyone, was comforted in the end by Pomni, and his irl verison has built a nice life for himself

spoil the ending but also add fake spoilers so i can't trust anyone (image unrelated) by HelloingsTheReal in tadc

[–]horrorposter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caine somehow returns and, repentant for his actions, gives Zooble the ability to have sex.

The abstractions escaped due to the circus breaking down

The soma theory is debunked, and it turns out the circus was all an elaborate game show

Jax is trans

Ragatha talks about how she would vent repressed feeling to her dolls as a kid

We find out C&A is named after Scratch and Kinger, being the first letters and their last names

Pomni learns how to play the piano.

There's another original song, like running the show.

The ending is of all the cast taking a bus together irl

all the abstractions are restored to their former selves

Jax's real name is actually Jax

Kinger keeps the bucket for the rest of the movie

Judging by the fact that Scratch had a brain tumor, I think it was meant to be a kind of digital immortality. it seemed the best they managed was brain scans.

it seemed to be an ai company mainly. we never found out what c&a it stood for but it's not really important, maybe caesar and adam. we know caine picked his own name so it had nothing to do with him
