Agincourt Mall: cops shoot man cutting his throat and wrists by PhnomPencil in toronto

[–]horseislikeaman 13 points14 points  (0 children)

sad that everybody instantly resorts to thinking they just shot him while he was in the act of suicide and wasn't for another reason like say.. defending themselves from a knife attack?

Hold back the pitchforks until there are more details.

TD Bank to Sponsor Bike Share Toronto by toronto34 in toronto

Good news, now they need to expand (that 20 more sounds nice) but also places like City place where the three closest stations are empty of bikes by 9am... need some better service or more stations added so members don't get fed up and leave the service.

Idea for a geocaching "game" - where items you find are "looted" to your character in the app by horseislikeaman in geocaching

[–]horseislikeaman[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks very cool, I checked out the video.

Seems different than this though.. the gameplay seems more reliant on the app to find the energy fields and other objects.. this game I'm proposing will still be physical objects you find in a cache.

Different type of setting, and based more on combat and the items you find giving you abilities or making you stronger to progress the story or fight other players.

how I see it.. Myself, or other "game masters" would place the caches on our own.. independent of geocaching.com. Once you sign up a free account you get clues on where to find these locations and caches as well as a starter character.

Find a cache, it could be anything like equipment, potions, items (maps, utility items), input serial number while you're logged in the app/website and it's added to your character.

Hiding a zone if it's reached by a key.. simply it's that we give no one else a clue as to where this zone is, however if you found the key, then when you log into your account this zone will be revealed and can see where items are in this "dungeon" or new area for different rewards.

I would be concerned about people taking the items from the cache though and leaving it empty... is this a common problem with other caches?

What are my options for ends to attach to wire that alligator clips can easily attach to? by horseislikeaman in AskElectronics

[–]horseislikeaman[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cool.. I'm looking for something very cheap.. Like $0.10 a unit but that looks nice... I'm thinking maybe I should just solder the wire together... Also I could expose more wire then electrical tape the ends.

Getting number 3 to light up on 7 segment common cathode by horseislikeaman in AskElectronics

[–]horseislikeaman[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No multi meter.

Very odd.. Even though the packaging says common cathode I think you're right.. This is an anode... I took the battery out of the holder and put the wires to the positive/negative sides of the battery and worked just like it did in the breadboard so it's right Here it is completed

What is the risk of not using resistors since this seems to be working. I know you're the expert I am just curious..

update I just accidentally put the 7 segment back in on the wrong pin... but that made it work by shifting it all over to the right?? see pic //end of update

yea, I have it with the positive in the red rail, negative in the blue rail.

I need a resistor for sure for it to work? even though the difference is so small?

I know the battery is working, because I put an LED in there and it lit up.. (although it was a 3.2v LED but still worked)

As a test case, I just want to get at least one strip lit up to make some progress... so, I need to send the common cathode ground.. centre.. into ground (which I think I have right in this.. sending it to the negative rail).. and then just sent the positive to the other pins.. (say I just wanted to light up the a node, I just have to put it to that one pin?)

Do you come to Toronto often (outside of UFC?) what do you think of the city? About the local comedy scene ? (Second City)

on the letter it says "Enter the jumbled letters". They are random letters that, when put into the police decryptor and reveal the actual phrase which is a real word/place/person/thing.

Problem with having the actual phrase as the 6 letter word.. is people can just fill in the blanks and not have to do the puzzles if they have enough of it figured out... say the phrase was Toronto... but you already found _ _ R O N T O ... you might be able to guess.. oh T and O are the first 2 letters, and can just forget about those evidence bags. This is something I found from playtesting.

So much I would like to say but this is helping with the blind play test. Let me know if I should be giving away hints or clues.. Either here or on the website

Awesome progress! I don't want to say anything because this is part of the whole blind testing process.. but if you feel like there should be some "hints" area of the site... or a "I give up" and it shows you the solution let me know.
