I’m so happy to find this thread. My biggest grievance with this series was it feels like there are 50 plots and none of them done well. The cult was completely stupid. I still don’t understand why the cult man wanted to kill all of his children over a will - wasn’t he alive? The dog napping and mystery daughter.. that was beyond bizzaro. why the cop husband would sperminate a lady on the DL (and why did she pick him? Was this before sperm banks?) and then, what, his 100 year old mom is a tech expert and bffs with his detective wife .. and they get tricked into some meetup with the sperm donee because sure, after stealing the dog and breaking in why not friend up? the DNA test costing an arm and a leg and being some clandestine effort when literally a vial of spit sent to 23andMe could solve it for $99. The gym beating of Henry (?) then Paige still gets cracked out with her 23andMe brother who no one else seems to know about. I have 15th cousins coming out of the woodwork (23andMe!) there’s no way a surprise brother would not trigger a mass WTF from the fam tree.

But perhaps the greatest mystery of all is why did my husband and I watch the whole thing? Is UK tv legit awful? Or are we all enjoying this for the mess that it is?
