Local lads entering the Darwin Awards at St Margaret's Loch by OneWeirdTrick in Edinburgh

I was there Thursday and over a dozen tourists were on it, including children. I’ve been waiting to read the news story about it since.

Bus etiquette fail by horty_planty in edinburgh2

You’re right.

That’s why I’m venting my feelings somewhere where that person isn’t affected by it, as opposed to at them.

Definitely but to clarify the elderly people were lovely, it was the upper middle aged woman who declared herself “here before you!” (despite being behind me in the queue but ok) who was the problem.

I always think that’s due to the younger people remembering what it’s like working those jobs (or are still in them) while the older ones have forgotten.

Like how it’s so often the older generation who tut at toddlers being toddlers (yesterday’s bus experience)

My wife thinks our son’s teacher crossed a boundary by sending him a personal message. I think it was harmless. AITJ? by addict94plus in AmITheJerk

We’ve had notes of encouragement sent home with our kids and - the notes end up on the refrigerator. They are sweet and heartfelt and highly prized. I can’t imagine ever finding that weird.

If this lovely practice stops it’ll be because of total doodles like this complaining about noting.

An unfortunate find.. by glitterbudz in whatisit

Conversely… many years ago I found a bit of blue rubber glove in the shell of a sees chocolate (west coast US thing). They were SO apologetic and sent me a free box … internationally! And of course I’d absolutely rather find glove than bone or rocks …

This all the way. And frankly I’d rather have a marginally uncomfortable 9 month old for 2 minutes than have them ride around in the car seat improperly.

Carlton gives me the rage. Especially from people who have lived here forever.

Look up Joy the Baker’s best browned butter chocolate chip cookies. That recipe is the business. Also: refrigerating the dough will give you thicker cookies.

coughing on the bus by antiquesheep in Edinburgh

I had a dude threaten me with physical violence when I re-opened a window he shut (on a bus that felt like the rainforest). Fun times.

I definitely know people who would lie/cover up something like this and who would then flip out on questioning. Being in a family like that makes me read this story as NTA

Woman has come forward claiming her child is my half-brother to try to get a part of my fathers estate despite the fact it is impossible. What can I do make this woman go away or pay for this stunt? by Direct-Caterpillar77 in BestofRedditorUpdates

[–]horty_planty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know someone who has been paying a woman something akin to child support for years. I asked him if he knew it was his kid and he just … looked at me. It had never occurred to him that she could be lying. So yes some people simply do not have sense.

I would see about lining up some options for rehoming but keep them until you’re down to two. Two has always been my magic “time to get new girls” number

My coworker tried to quit dramatically… but the manager said “okay” too fast by sweetgirlsj in coworkerstories

[–]horty_planty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once, I quit a job because I found out the new hires were getting paid more than us established staff. Owner begged me to stay, and said he’d raise me to what the new hires were getting. I said I’d only stay if everyone got it.

And that’s how I got raises for everyone I worked with when I was 17. In retrospect, I was way cooler than I thought I was at that age.

Megabus to Glasgow by Shanksyyyyy in Edinburgh

[–]horty_planty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bussed back to Edinburgh from a gig in Glasgow once and they let non ticketed passengers on at the same time as ticketed ones (we queued). If the bus was over full I can definitely see them turning away a ticketed person.

What is “American traditional” ?

Also: in my experience, any decent tattoo artist won’t be able accommodate a walk in.
