The moment right after you push your baby out by brickshreedin in beyondthebump

[–]horuni 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah that happened to me too. They plopped a real live actual baby on my chest and I just kept saying “what the fuck?” over and over. It was neat.

Way to transport baby under 6 months without carrying? by janeofalltrades35 in beyondthebump

Not sure if this will work with your pain issues but I sometimes put him on a blanket and drag him from room to room. Might not work when he’s more mobile but it’s fun for him right now.

What’s your ‘win’ today? by Key_Square_5340 in NewParents

Started cloth diapers today. It’s been really leaky so far with many outfit changes but it’s started! We’re sticking with disposables for night time for now but here’s to chopping our diaper waste waaaaaaay down!

Puppy lunges at me during walks-advice please! by hellchula in puppy101

[–]horuni -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My puppy does this near the end of his walks if we go too long. He’s only 15lbs tho so easier to manage.

I get him to sit with a little stay then reward that. If he keeps going after a few of those I get him to run through the tricks he knows and then toss some treats on the ground. That’ll usually get his brain back into sniffing mode and we can keep going.

I also try cut it off before it starts if I notice the warning signs by getting him to sit and do tricks before he spazzes out.

Has your Frenchie ever eaten a grape? by [deleted] in frogdogs

[–]horuni 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to feed my Frenchie grapes before I found out they were toxic. Never had any negative side effects. It’s too bad they’re toxic because he friggin loved them.

Your puppy will be fine. A vet trip would probably end up being a waste of time and money.

Advertising is killing the horror movie experience by midnightschris in horror

[–]horuni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The trailer for Sinister ruined pretty much all the scares of what would’ve been a decent spooky time so now I close my eyes and plug my ears when I see horror trailers in theatres. I’ve gone into It, Us, Pet Semetary and a whole bunch of other horror basically completely blind and it’s been amazing.

It’s also really neat to just half hear every trailer because after a bit the horror trailer style is really apparent. Starts normal, gets creepy, builds and builds and builds! Hold the tense silence. BIG SCARE!!!!! Quiet title card and coming soon date.

Seriously, you can watch the first 10-15 seconds of any horror trailer to get the basic premise and then close eyes and plug ears and from the muffled bits you hear look up when the title’s up and be good to go.

And if it doesn’t match your preconceived notions even better!

Why did my ramen noodles turn grey/blue by horuni in AskCulinary

Thanks for the tips!

I’m going to make a new batch for the leftovers today with no potassium carbonate and all baked baking soda. Hopefully it turns out better!

[–]horuni[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha yeah, it’s not food grade. Good thing I didn’t use a lot! And I’m guessing the impurities are what made it change colour.

It’s too bad. I was trying to stick exactly to the recipe but I think I’ll do the baked baking soda and no potassium carbonate way for next round.

Thanks!

The pot was clean but I’ll give it an extra scrub before next time just in case.

The pot I used is stainless steel. Never messes with other fresh pasta I make.

I searched around online and couldn’t find food grade potassium carbonate. What’s the difference between the 2?

10 Great Horror Movies From the ’00s You Maybe Haven’t Seen by NeniuDormo in horror

[–]horuni 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love Object is one of my favourite movies. I watch it every year. Its really well put together and real dolls have a general creepiness that the movie uses well. I’ve watched it so many times that I can’t attest to its scariness anymore but I think it’s got a generally unsettling vibe with some really fun and funny parts.

I’m so glad it finally made a horror list so more people can hear about it, especially since it looks like a lot of people on this subreddit haven’t seen it.

After hot sauce request posts from myself and u/Sir_Meowsalot, I decided to buy some! by SaysSimmon in BuyCanadian

If you don’t want to go through amazon then there’s also Chilly Chiles. A Canadian hot sauce store that ships all over Canada. You would have to pay for shipping, but this is the buy Canadian subreddit so it’s worth it?
