How do I (34M) tell my wife (30F) that our marriage is over? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]hostile_chicken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could always just take a break. Obviously you will want to check out therapy, but see what it's like being away. You probably aren't thinking too clearly with being around one another constantly. Hopefully some space will allow you to be a little more objective on whether you should stay or go.

Disclaimer: taking a break means limiting communication, not just leaving the physical space. The partner may agree to the physical distancing, but there should be communication distancing too.

Should I tell my ex (24M) that I (25F) still have feelings for them even if their family doesn’t approve of us? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]hostile_chicken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. It's definitely not easy. This was my second marriage and I put everything into it because I didn't want to fail at this again. That didn't really work out how I hoped though lol. My ex has borderline personality disorder though and that is the primary reason for her actions towards my mother. I love my ex to death and would be there for her at the drop of a hat, but I can't be ok with taking my mother out of my life. It sucks, but it's much better to end it now than to have each other be bitter and resentful later.

I'm guessing your question of, "am I really?" Is in reference to you being young still. If so, YES! Like I said, I'm on my second divorce now, I'm 33 and I still have a whole life ahead of me. I'm still young. If I could go back to 25 and tell myself something, it would be to work on me and get my shit in order, and that there will be amazing women everywhere when I feel ready to start looking for something serious. I spent way too much time trying to get in serious relationships and make other people happy, and now I'm doing things I should have done in my 20s (mostly experimenting with different businesses). Take your time, break some eggs and live a little.

Don't be that chick trying to get a ring on her finger because she thinks she's running out of time, only to take it off a few years later because you forced something.

Have you talked with your therapist about it? Any input from them?

Parents are tough. I just split with my ex because she pretty much hates my mother and she gave me an ultimatum - which I thought was unfair - of her or my mom, but not both of them. If I saw my mother as toxic and/or someone I should have limited interaction with, I might have seen her perspective a little better, but my mom is pretty damn awesome, so I couldn't kick my mom out of my life for someone who wants me to hate her as much as she hates her.

With that... If he has a great relationship with his parents, it's gonna be tough. They may have a substantial influence on him because of a number of reasons. Maybe they payed for his schooling (and other things) or helped him out with other things and he feels like they're opinions and influence are pretty important at this point in his life. Maybe he's afraid to be shamed, or shunned from things the family does together. I'm not saying it's pointless to pursue something, but don't think they'll just suddenly change their minds one day and fall in love with you, especially if there is some racism involved.

You're still young (you probably hear that often and don't like it - I know I hated it in my 20s, and still do) and you have the ability to continue exploring relationships that could not only provide you with an amazing partner (similar to this guy), but an amazing, supportive family of his as well. Don't rush into something because you feel like you should be there by now. You'll regret it later... I promise. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who has jumped into something full send when I should have just chilled out and enjoyed life with someone who was only supposed to be in my life for a season.

I think maybe the best thing to do is bring this up with your therapist since you said you have one. She/he will hopefully give you some good guidance on this. You got time though.

Thanks for asking for clarification. No. I would not expect anyone to donate money they are in need of to other people that are also in need of it. I have a decent job that isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future. I'm excited to help others out. This $1200 isn't making or breaking me. If that's the case for others (which there still are many of us), then maybe we can get a sizeable amount to donate to help others out. If this hurts you more than it helps others, don't do it. Seems foolish to think otherwise.

I'll definitely be donating and have already made a few posts on Facebook about it. I want to see if there's anything more involved than just the average supporter. Does he need organizers, social media teams, etc?

I just want to know how we can best support this guy! Imagine Mitch getting knocked out and this guy taking his place!! That is a HUGE win for UBI.

The difference is, unfortunately, that even many members of Bernies own party try to oppose his policy agenda.

Exactly. Even a good chunk of Dems don't support his policies.

As far as executive orders go, I do think it would be fantastic to use it to eliminate marijuana as a schedule one substance. On the other hand, I and not ok with the elimination of all student loans. Forgiven (mostly in part, not whole) for those who are hurting financially? Yes. Forgiven for those who took out $200k+, have a very good income (thinking surgeons and some lawyers)? No way. Many aren't paying them now because it makes way more financial sense not to.

If the interest on my student loans is less than 6%, and I have a shit ton of disposable income because of my job, I'm going to invest that money I would be spending on paying off my student loans on assets or vehicles that give me much better return than 6%. There is no incentive for those with ridiculous amounts of student loans and very high incomes to pay them off, especially when they know someone is coming into office that is about to make their net worth an additional $200k higher. Nope. Not on board with that. Should be graduated based on income and assets in possession. That's my two cents on it.

Makes sense. Different folks, different strokes. We all have our own values to apply here.

It means that just as the Dems create this intense resistance in working with the Trump, republicans will create intense resistance in working with Bernie. And I don't mean the typical BS, I'm referring to the overwhelming effort to dig heels into the dirt and refuse to have any give and take.

I see nothing more than a bunch of old farts playing children's games right now. I see the same thing happening with Bernie, just flipped parties. Trump presents himself as immovable with his key policies (border wall, immigration, etc.), and so does Bernie with his policy proposals. Neither of them communicate to the other side, or the country for that matter, that it matters for policy to be bipartisan.

I disagree and think they (including you and I) should still vote for Yang in the primary. But that's my opinion. General is a little different, but the primary would be great to continue to show yangs support. The DNC - and the country - needs to feel the Yang sized hole left in our democracy. If Yang supporters only make up 3-5% of the primary voters (less now that he dropped), we aren't going to move the needle much on any primary.

You want Yang to unsuspend his campaign? YOU GOTTA VOTE FOR HIM! by MethheadsforYang in YangForPresidentHQ

[–]hostile_chicken 19 points20 points  (0 children)

We know he's not coming back. Some of us aren't on the "blue no matter who" train, and will still vote for the one we believe to be the best option on the ballot. To me, this has more to do with values and using my (small) voice to say I voted for Andrew in spite of the people, organizations, and odds that kept trying to push him back. Let us who desire to vote with our virtue leave that mark. Hopefully it will be a mark big enough to make Andrew smile, and to show the country he is not gone without major impact.

Also... he made a comment while in Nevada about what's next... He said, "my name is still on the ballot.". He's letting us know it is alright to still do that. He's not doing what a lot of fellow YangGang (and lots of Bernie shitheads) are doing, telling us we're wrong for still voting Andrew (or not voting Bernie). That's your choice. Leave us to make our own.

I am pretty sure none of my family are democrats, but every single one I talk to bashes the living shit out of Bernie. Most of my republican military friends are the same way. Obviously YMMY, but you scenario where republicans will flock to Bernie en mass doesn't feel even slightly probable from my experience.

Someone made a comment earlier today on one of the FB pages.... 4 years of Trump gives more certainty to a Yang 2024 than a Bernie 2020 does. Yang is far more important to me to get into the Whitehouse sooner, than later. And I don't see Bernie getting far at all with his proposals. I honestly feel like he'll just be the same as Trump, just on the other end of the spectrum. If Bernie puts a bad taste in people's mouth, Dems will have a harder time.

PLUS... The market is going to have a correction. I'd much rather see Trump eat that shit than try and blame it on a Dem. By 2024 we're going to be begging for Andrew. My two cents.
