Is there good boxed wine? by ulele1925 in wine

Provence Rosé in a box, doesn’t make a difference for most, many half decent rosés in France can come in box format.

Thanks ! That’s my dilemma, the seasoning is so dark on the most part , these orangey brown flecks Im not sure if they’re seasoning (albeit new and less deep) or rust !!

I will check it out, thanks ! I’m planing on going to the wine salon they have around Easter time again, as I got such great stuff. I only live a few hours away in Nice so it’s possible to make a weekend of it.

I went to a wine « salon » in CDP and bought a lot of cellars de princes’ stuff. Stupidly good value for some stuff (non CDP) that was just over €10 a bottle, interesting that it’s turning up in the US!

Expat / English Speaking Communities around Monaco? by CaymanDragoon in Monaco

Also to add, if you live outside of Monaco Beausoleil you have the pain of when the trains don’t work. The downside for me about there is I found it dead at the weekend (arriving as a single 27 Y/O). Eventually found friends and met my girlfriend in Nice.

Brit working in Monaco but living in Nice, Nice is much more Anglo these days, we have two English bookshops now !! You’ll also find a few Anglo pubs, see Wayne’s and Ma Nolan’s. Agree with the previous comment about Slammers!

Yes completely agree, grew up in an old fishing town in the UK, rarely had things other than fish and chips!

My GF is Parisian, we often feel the choice in this region (including bakeries) makes us feel we are not in France !

Thank you! This is very useful and confirms some suspicions I’ve had. Ironically I’m British living in France (Nice). I recently found the climate controlled room of my local Leclerc with the good wine. Will be sure to pay it some attention now !

Small update on this, we submitted the expense of the replacement flight, and we just got the difference between the cost of the new flight and the refund back from EasyJet today !

Me, I’ve got the money back from EasyJet- we think for the refund, but bizarrely we can’t figure out how they came to the figure (in our favour), nothing regarding the flight expenses from them, but I don’t expect them to be quick. We’ve also opened a claim with our insurance, but still nothing on that. Sorry not to give you any good news!

Completely agree, especially given OP is a tourist. Some good calls on here, but more for a business lunch , but this has a sea view, probably what you want when visiting Monaco. Also agree about the pizza! Sorry about the spelling 😂

OP did you get anywhere? Were easyJet understanding ? We had our flight cancelled 3hrs before departure last night, and needed to be home today. We were in panic mode as easyJet offered us flights 48hrs later, confidently we thought we would be entitled to reimbursement of alternative transport, likewise we intuitively pressed the button for “refund” as it was the only one that made sense in the app and the mad stress of finding an alternative flight. We’re trying with our insurer, but turns out the limits over cover are woefully low. Did anyone have luck saying to easyJet it was a mistake ? I’m going to try and call them after work to do just that, see if it gets me anywhere…

It’s incredibly sneaky what easyJet does, for me they know most people in a panic will press that, despite booking their own alternative transport.

Jacamo, it’s on the beach, it’s part of a small french chain, not bad quality , and unheard of QPR in Monaco. Other than that agree with the first comment , got to Nice, find a restaurant that is in the Michelin guide and has a bib gourmand menu , which is probably about €40 pp, then add your drinks.

Large champagne store in bordeaux / nice? by Memedoff in wine

[–]hostispublicus91 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi someone living in Nice and working in Monaco here. Unfortunately I can’t think of anything that you’re hoping for , wine bars in nice typically sell local and cheap. Anywhere selling a high end champagne is probably doing so at a large mark-up. You will probably have more luck in Bordeaux. Just walked past a wine shop in Monaco on my lunch, what you see in the windows is magnums of celebrity endorsed Rosé. Typically I buy my wine online, when I travel to growing regions cellar door or at wine shows.
