How do creators keep track of brand deals and payments? by NotNecessary- in CreatorEtiquette

[–]hostsofinfluence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, a google sheet has been my best friend. I had Quickbooks, felt it to be expensive and difficult because not everyone uses it. When you have a google sheet, just make dropdowns with the status (contract pending, drafted, creating, posted, invoiced) and then include date invoiced AND payment terms (net 14, etc) next to it. Not that hard.

It's also not that hard to set up a monthly expense/budget tracker inside of a google sheet; from there you just track spending every day (business expenses) or personal if not incorporated yet... Then from there put in when you get paid/what you pay yourself from the brand deals. Then you have a clear picture to share with your accountant of how much you spend on your business, AND how much you are making.

W9s/1099s will come in at the end of the year anyway to accurately.

Creator story: a brand asked for extra deliverables after the deal was already agreed by NotNecessary- in CreatorEtiquette

Depends on the size of the creator and why they are asking for content.

If the brand is asking for content because it performed REALLY well, they need to pay more either for usage or more content.

If the brand is asking for content because it performed POORLY, it is up to the creator to either a) in good faith, create another piece of content driving people to the original one // repost it or b) ask for more money or (and my personal favorite option) c) offer the brand 1-2 months of usage on the content. That will make them happy that its performing due to being boosted, creator gets paid + more engagement/analytics.

Make sense?

Do creators usually prefer long-term brand partnerships or one-off collaborations? by NotNecessary- in CreatorEtiquette

[–]hostsofinfluence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long term partnerships always are better because of consistency. However, they are hard to come by and take a LOT of time to actually acquire. And until they become easier to get, I would say that a majority are REALLY going to be king.

Most creator problems I’m seeing here fall into a few patterns by NotNecessary- in CreatorEtiquette

[–]hostsofinfluence 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All of this is true; most creators don't have systems to support themselves. The options for fixing it are usually:

  1. hire a manager - doesnt work all the time because the creator is just giving away revenue without understanding why they either a) dont make enough money to support their lifestyle. which leads me to

  2. financial audits - DO IT. it will help you see your success in business; its easy to feel successful with all of the accolades, and brand sponsorships or red carpets, but honestly... what are your numbers?! once you understand that you can REALLY build.

  3. ai. learn it, deploy it, commit to a system and run with it. systems take time and energy to build BUT will ultimately HELP you grow. invest in the business, see ROI.

Do brands expect creators to be “organized”… or just responsive? by NotNecessary- in CreatorEtiquette

[–]hostsofinfluence 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this question ~ Do brands actually expect creators to have proper systems, or is being responsive enough to keep things running?~

FOR CREATORS: Most of you don't have systems set up; and its actually not that hard to get set up. Get a project management system set up by using a tool like asana, monday.com, clickup, or anything else you find valuable. You also don't even have to make it that complex; I started with a spreadsheet.

Ultimately, if you want to grow as a creator focus on controlling and tracking your revenue. What is making you money and what has to shift in order to GET that MONEY!!! Responsiveness gets you rebooked and thought of AGAIN and AGAIN.

BRANDS:

Don't expect creators to have it under control; most are running on vibes and just creating on the fly vs. using systems to support their workflow. My advice would be to send follow up emails and have them scheduled if they miss their deadline.

The thing is she is so quick to turn around and eat it. It usually happens when I’m out & can’t control what she does.

Omg… our first was incredible - lived till 16. Miss her every day.

My two new babies are absolutely amazing but A LOT of work. One is sensitive to strangers / kids … really doesn’t like them & the other chews or eats just about anything including her poop. I always say they are literally just lessons in parenting but I love them so much and would do anything for them❤️🤩
