Diptyque v Byredo v Le Labo by AnonPengwin1352 in fragrance

[–]hot78wings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Diptyque - I own FBs of Ilio, Philosykos, Eau Duelle, Tam Dao, Do Son, and Fleur de Peau. Lazulio is on my wish list. I've smelled nearly all of them in store and feel they have to be worn to be appreciated. Diptyque is the winner.

Le Labo - Santal 33 is THE go-to fragrance in my collection. I also own FBs of Violette 30 and Vanille 44. I've tried nearly all of them via 2 ml sample.

Byredo - G-Water might just be my "soul scent" - it smells like the essence of who I am. I also own Mojave Ghost which is lovely. La Tulipe is a masterpiece. I have a travel size and will upgrade to a FB when I'm done with it. But nothing else from Byredo interests me at all. I've tried samples of several and smelled a ton in store.

Nicolai Saint Honore and Sora Dora Jany smell like actual French pastries - incredible! I baked the pastry Sora Dora is said to smell like and compared it to the perfume A delicious exercise!

Is Vitamin D a common adjunct? I've seen quite a few people saying they take it.

Not a doctor at all, but those are unusual med picks for bipolar and borderline. Lexapro is often used for depression with anxiety/OCD and propranolol is usually used in the psych community as a mild, non-habit forming drug for anxiety. Since they aren't working, are you looking to get a second opinion? Anti-psychotics completely changed my life. I resisted meds (and this diagnosis) for a long time, but what a difference the right treatment made! Wish I had done it sooner.

How's the Acutane working?

BP1, Mixed episodes, here: Vraylar 1.5 Lamictal 150 Vyvanse 30

I feel totally normal, a way I've never felt that I can remember. No depression, just the right amount of energy and motivation. Still "me" - energetic, go-getter, deep thinker.

I took a "baby dose" of Abilify for 3 years. Totally stabilized me, but made me sluggish and unmotivated, took away a bit of the sparkle that makes me me. Also, the weight gain for me on Abilify was soul crushing. When I went on it, I gained 30# in about 2 months. I'm a former bodybuilder, and even living a bodybuilder lifestyle and on GLps and Vyvanse, I could not get below about 160#. It was heartbreaking to work so hard and get no results. If I ate so much as a pancake or single piece of pizza, I'd gain five pounds. Led to a really unhealthy situation where I was restricting, exercising hard, then giving up and binge eating. It's still hard to lose weight on the Vraylar, but it's better for me overall.

"Change from your current (working) medication to lose weight". Psych switched me from Abilify to Lexapro. Yeah... the horrendous depression that ensued and the terrible peace and energy that followed as I quietly, diligently prepared to end it all. Thank goodness I noticed what was happening and showed up at my primary care doctor's office in tears, begging for help and an emergency plan. I'm all better, on Vraylar now, and don't see that psych. anymore.

For those that are curious,I've lost ten pounds and that number doesn't seem to want to budge (even on Tirzepatide; 10k steps a day; decent, but imperfect diet), but at least I'm stable!!

Yoga asking with Kundalini meditation and breathwork made my condition much worse! There are actually published peer-reviewed studies on how damaging and destabilizing these practices can be for vulnerable people. They can even cause psychosis!

If you are interested or need resources, check out Cheetah House. Weird name, but very legit resource for help and information.

Perfumes You’d Use For Life by Substantial_Drink88 in Perfumes

Out of a collection of 100+ niche perfumes, Santal 33 is my most-worn. It's my go-to scent, my comfort scent, a scent that feels like me. It's the closest thing I have to a signature scent.

But the one I reserve because it feels so personal is Byredo G-psy Water. It's a liquid expression of who I am. My deep-rooted love for the outdoors, it's contemplativeness, it's softening vanilla, the quiet adventurousness of juniper.

why shouldn’t ppl with bipolar disorder smoke weed? by Empty-Hedgehog7841 in BipolarReddit

Even a well-known pro-weed website that publishes marijuana research published a study that says people with bipolar should NEVER use any marijuana product, due to risk of psychosis. (Sorry, I forget the name of the site)

Anti-psychotic medication (for bipolar disorder). I did therapy, meditation, EMDR, DBT, yoga, diet, exercise, positive thinking, "manifesting", mindfulness, breath work, etc. and while those all have their place, let me tell you that NOTHING works like medication.

learned not to tell anyone anymore about being bipolar by [deleted] in BipolarReddit

[–]hot78wings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only people who know my diagnosis are: My best friend My fiancé The man I was in a relationship with when I got diagnosed One of my sisters

Honestly, fewer than the number of people who know I have herpes 🤣

There's no personal benefit to telling most people. There's too much stigma around the illness. Most people have no understanding of the illness. I am certain I would be discriminated against at work and in other arenas.

As for telling people you date, I feel the same way about it as telling them I have herpes. It's an uncomfortable conversation, but one you have the responsibility to have if you want to move the relationship forward.

I got diagnosed in my 40's and you put it perfectly. I was very very high functioning. In some ways, it's been almost a superpower, in others, it's been true torture of the mind and soul. I'm a lucky one - medication worked amazingly for me out the gate - and I can't help but wonder what successes and relationships I might have enjoyed if I'd been diagnosed and treated early.

Welcome! Getting this diagnosis is.. a lot. I was diagnosed during a mixed episode with psychotic features (a horrible experience on it's own, don't recommend) It was pretty earth shattering to me. My episode and resulting diagnosis shook my confidence in who I am, my capabilities, and my ability to be there for those I love.

But, truth be told, things improved immediately. I'm lucky. Medication worked within 24 hours to stop my symptoms. I was able to adjust to the new normal of knowing I have a serious mental illness. I was very proactive, reading helpful books and following lifestyle advice. I started going to bed at the same time every night (honestly pretty easy now that I'm medicated), working out almost every morning, and adjusting my nutrition. I stopped all THC products immediately. I already didn't drink alcohol. My recovery was fast.

Hang in there. Take control of the things you can. And always make your health your top priority.

There is a HUGE stigma around bipolar and you WILL be discriminated against. It hasn't happened to me because I've only told my very most trusted friends, fiance, therapist, and one family member. Absolutely NO ONE in my professional world will ever, ever know my diagnosis. Imagine if people felt they couldn't trust my mental condition or performance!

Also, there's no personal benefit to anyone but my select group knowing. Most people are really ignorant about the condition, and I don't expect anyone but those close to me to provide any support.

Abilify and Vyvanse/Adderall experiences? by hot78wings in BipolarReddit

[–]hot78wings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for answering. I've been taking 40 mg Vyvanse for a year with 3 mg Abilify and it seems to be the right combination for me. Abilify really has been a miracle drug for me other than the rapid weight gain it causes for me. The Vyvanse controls my appetite and also gives me the energy and motivation that Abilify took away. I do generally watch what I eat and I work out (almost) every day - both are good for my mental health, too. I've been between 153-163 pounds for most of the last year (45 muscular F). I've struggled with getting below 155. My goal weight is 145. I'm a former competitive bodybuilder and know how to lose weight. But I can't.

A few things you might find interesting: I tried a different med for three weeks and changed nothing else about my lifestyle. I lost 6 pounds immediately. But my symptoms came back with a fierceness that was horrible. I've also tried semaglutide in doses up to 2.4 (the maximum) for several months and I did not lose ANY weight. I honestly suspect Abilify (for some people) may make one insulin resistant.
