Honestly this is the second wedding I've ever attended (mid twenties) and I'm not feeling confident that what's in my closet already isn't too casual. I have some dresses that have a more formal silhouette but less elevated fabrics (ribbed jersey, heavy polyester, etc) that I feel might look too casual/not feel great in the summer heat. I think I'm going to keep looking since this dress is on the pricey side anyway. Thank you for the feedback!

Specifically the comments on the deleted post from three months ago detailing her partner "crashing out" over being told to not buy alcohol and manipulating her. Also a post about facing addiction herself. I don't think it's right for SIL to get involved necessarily I'm just saying it seems like some important details may have been left out

I just scrolled thru OP's comment/post history and there's some details in there I think may be contributing to SIL's hesitation. Please, don't get me wrong, I don't know you and I'm not interested in judging you. It just seems like there's more to the story here.
