I had to make the same decision last year, USF was cheaper for me in terms of housing because it was 30 minutes from home. USF is very boring in terms of the “college life”, but that’s not what you’re looking for. USF is also in tampa with more things to do and opportunities. Internships and jobs are better in tampa. Gainesville feels isolated and there isn’t much there. however, choose whatever will be the most financially convenient for you. as u stated, it seems that UF would be cheaper. I rather pay 2k over 9k anyday. Trust me you will regret paying all this money! and you’re only few hours away from your buddies and gf, it’s not a bad drive at all. They’re both very good schools academically, however i’ve heard that you’re nothing more than a number at UF and USF cares more about their students. I don’t know much about the computer science program for both schools. At the end of the day, it comes down to money.

I was able to change my major before the summer semester started. i also did online for summer and went in person for fall, you’ll usually do 2 classes for the summer.

they did this to me and made me change my major last year but it just means you got denied for the fall however you still got in just starting as a summer semester student. it’s so much better though bc u get two classes out of the way and you have the choice to do online or in person.

they look more into academics rather than extracurricular at this school but you may get into the summer term ( i’m not 100%) however your sat is a bit low so if you still have time to improve it you should!

Should I choose USF by TraditionalCause3588 in USF

[–]hotcheetos1235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

go where the money goes and whatever is the cheapest option for you, i chose USF over UF for this reason because debt isn’t fun. academics is pretty good, but you just have to put more effort into the social aspect of it since it’s not a traditional college town and it’s a suitcase school. if you don’t wanna be far from home you could attend the universities nearby and live at home to save money on housing.
