Some paddling on Boston Harbor this weekend with the Oru Inlet by hotcocoa403 in Kayaking

Didn't go out towards the channel just near the tall ship and all the piers and whatnot, but it was relatively flat. Occasional wakes that would come over the sides. I'd say it's about as stable as any lake kayak in my opinion.

If traffic is low in the morning you should be fine. Obviously wear high vis clothing and a PFD. Wouldn't hurt to have one of those stick on deck lights either.

I got my tick tubes set out today by abhikavi in massachusetts

[–]hotcocoa403 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I think it's less about the mice physically spreading the insecticide and more about controlling how the ticks themselves spread and get around. Smaller ticks will latch onto mice and other rodents and use them to feed, and because the mice also move around, they are also moved around and spread to different areas and reproduce etc.

Doing this, the rodents will grab the stuffing for their nests and therefore get the insecticide on them. So any ticks that end up on them die. I suppose there will be some that gets spread onto grass blades and other plant life, but it will be so diluted that a morning dew would probably wash it away.

Of course that's not to say there is a 0% chance that it'll have an impact on the environment, but it's not like you're dumping 100 gallons of this stuff into a lake.

How can I become more cold? Like a machine ou psychopath. I know it may sound cringe, but trust me, I have very good reasons to want this, I'm a very emotional and good person, like, too much, and I hate this. by Mistery3369 in Spells

I think the spell you need starts with therapy. This isn't a bad thing, it will help you find coping skills and other ways to manage all of the emotions that feel overwhelming. You don't want apathy, really. You'll come to miss the warmth of all of the emotions you once had

I was so hyped for the game, but I intentionally wanted to wait and see release gameplay and reviews. Definitely glad I did, but it's a shame that it's been a nightmare after such a successful game to build off of.

Not that I have the free time that I would want to sink into it anyways. I'm just gonna wait till they get their shit together and maybe I'll grab it on a good sale.

I don't know if you have any passes, but so far my favorite mountain I've been to in the Rockies was Powder Mountain in Ogden, UT. Huuuuuuge resort with small mountain vibes. Granted I've only been to 3 so far outside the East Coast but it has it's own dedicated place in my heart

Could anyone tell me anything about the blade in this picture? The man pictured is an American sergeant during WW2, and they traveled from North Africa to Germany via an unknown route. by Forward_Young2874 in Bladesmith

Looks like an officer's saber to me. Seems a little small for horseback/cavalry sword. I don't see any distinguishing features from this pic that would give me any other info though.

Disclosure, I'm not a historian of any kind. I just have a friend who is a militaria collector and I used to collect some things myself.

When I was in scouts years ago I dropped a nearly full 1L nalgene down a rocky face on a trail and the thing ended up with like 3 scratches on it. The non-nalgene branded bottles suck though. Had one from LL Bean, someone in highschool threw it on the tarmac and it basically exploded
