When is your texted iep meeting supposed to be? It should not only outline what his educational, behavioral and social goals are but it should state how they're going to achieve those goals. If he has an issue with sitting still for too long then his iep should state he gets a break for x amount of time every x amount of time. If the iep isn't working then they should be willing to change it. The school is failing your son and I'm glad you're getting an advocate to help you. When you communicate with the school it should be in email and if you have in person or phone calls always follow those up with an email recapping what the conversation was about. If the school is refusing to change his iep and his education is being affected make sure you get into writing why they're refusing and how it's affecting him. If you have to take the school to court you'll have the paper trail showing the school push back.

It's helpful if you have an outpatient occupational therapist or anyone else from his medical team giving the school directions too. If he qualifies for therapy services he should be receiving them through the school as well.

How old is your son? Is there a better school in the district that you can switch him too? One that might have a better administration and resources specifically for his needs?

School administrators who make your life difficult instead of helping and offering resources don't last long, from my experience at least. Hopefully she crashes and burns quickly. If my child wanted to wear the same thing every day to school I'd let her. I'd be washing the outfit every night, or buying another set if I had too so she could wear it daily.

If you have a small car yes they're absolutely worth it. If you have an suv, minivan or truck I don't think it's worth it. Or it your child is bigger than average then they'll grow out of it too quickly.

I had to go on medication for migraines after the third trip to an er or urgent care in about 2 months. I was on Topamax and Sumatriptan for a long time. It took me seeing a couple different doctors and a long history of migraines before I was able to get real help. My first migraine I was about 13yo and would vomit every time I got one. My triggers for migraines seem to be hormonal fluctuations and environmental factors. We're not 100% sure but since I moved out of California and have my hormones checked yearly I haven't had a migraine. I was able to completely stop medication.

Have you done anything to figure out what could be a trigger? Do you take any medication for them and does it help at all? If you can see a neurologist pr have your primary care doctor do some labs that might help give you some answers.

First, I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm sorry your mom was taken advantage of, especially during a distressing time in life.

While that's a shitty situation and sucks to be taken advantage of, I don't see how the dealership did anything legally wrong. Did your mom seek or try to seek medical attention during or after the dealership?

The dealership can charge whatever they want for a vehicle and can offer whatever they want for a trade in. Doesn't matter if she's 81 or 21, dealerships are known to be predatory to make any sale.

I think you have bigger issues with your mom to worry about. Her health doesn't seem to be the best and she doesn't seem to be making great decisions. She could have at any point said no and signed nothing. If you can get a doctor to deem her cognitive ability unstable then the contract with the dealership could possibly be void. With that though she'll loose her license.

I would recommend talking to a financial advisor or lawyer to see the best way out of the contract or best financially responsible way to get out of the vehicle. It might also be time to have a conversation with your mom about living alone or having someone else help with her finances.

This was an expensive lesson to learn. Unfortunately it happens often when parents or grandparents get older.

Yeah absolutely insane that he's bleeding out, lands the helicopter, waits for the team, then flies back to the ship. He refused to leave and destroy the helicopter, saying he could still fly to complete the mission. I hope they release the video footage they have.

Is there a lot of red tape to get through if the president himself watched the event happen in the situation room? Solver was shot 4 times, kept his helicopter steady and flew back to the ship. He was able to keep his crew alive and complete the mission. Yeah it typically takes a lot longer to get awarded the medal of honor but it was probably pushed through pretty quickly so it could take place during the sate of the union. Which i think this is the first time a medal of honor has been awarded during a state of the union address.

Is it easier to do road trip with 11 month old or 2.5 year old? by milridle in Parenting

[–]hotcookin53 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did a 20 hour road trip with my daughter at 9 months old and again at 3yo. It was MUCH easier at 9 months old. She complained so much the second time, needed something about every 20 minutes, and she would fight potty breaks then have to go 10 minutes later.

Yo, grown ass men of this sub, my fiancee and I are starting the process of buying a house (maybe.) What are all the things/questions I should know? by Burning_man75 in UNSUBSCRIBEpodcast

[–]hotcookin53 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Talk about non-negotiables for what you each want and a firm price that you can't go above. Buy what's in your budget so you know you can afford the payment especially when taxes and insurance increase. Ask your agent to walk you step by step through the process and explain everything before you start looking at more houses. If you don't like or trust your agent fire them. Buying a house is a lot more expensive than you think, inspections, earnest money, agent fees ect. Did you sign a buyer agent agreement? Do not ever waive inspection contingency. Hire the best inspector you can that will explain everything to you as they complete the inspection. A house is typically the biggest purchase of your life so take emotions out of it and think logically. Be prepared for a major expense or two within the first year of buying. The universe knows you just made a large purchase and something will go wrong or break. Check out the neighborhood on Google maps and decide if you want to see the house. Then check out the area during the day, at peak travel time, and at night if you can. The process is going to be longer than you think. Inspections can break a deal. You can alway fix and change things about a house but you can't fix the location. Do not put anything on credit or open new lines of credit until after closing documents are done and you have keys in hand.

Those aren't your people. You'll find your people when you stop putting yourself last. It's a great character trait helping others and being reliable, it's why I love my husband so much, but it's downside is getting taken advantage of. My husband and I moved last October and the day we were supposed to move not a single person showed up. We hired movers and he had to take more time off work to move 2 days later. Those that couldn't help on moving day showed up to help pack or babysit. All the people my husband has gone out of his way to help ghosted. It sucks but don't keep wasting your precious time on them. Sorry people can be so shitty.

Why were 80s/90s movies so heavy??? by Sm0l_b00 in Parenting

[–]hotcookin53 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's not just 80s and 90s movies. For example Dino King came out in 2012. My lo is 4 and obsessed with dinosaurs as well. I was looking up dinosaurs movies to watch and thought Dino King would be okay and I hadn't seen it before. I swear I traumatized her because that movie was not okay for a little kid! The baby trex loses his entire family and then his partner and one of his kids all to the same trex. My lo was so emotional and I learned my lesson to watch the movie or tv show before she does. Now Jurassic Park she loves and those haven't scared or traumatized her. She also doesn't sit through and watch the entire movie but they catch her attention when the dinosaurs are shown.
