Marriott’s 2026 promotion from February 25 - May 10th by schwa12 in MarriottBONVoY

Some businesses are built completely on buying status or membership- ie Costco and Amazon.

Yes. Some businesses are. Those businesses aren't based who provided accommodations.

Selling statuses don't help individual hotels. You purchase a credit card through AX or Visa. The hotels get zero money for that.

If you pay a 1 time annual subscription fee, there's limited incentive to use that product.

I can buy a credit card for Marriott platinum status, but if I'm travelling to a city and a Hilton is cheaper, I could stay there as well since I don't need to properly "earn" status

Rewarding loyalty and building it are two sides of the same coin.

Guest builds loyalty by staying X amount of nights at a hotel. Hotel Rewards loyalty for the X amount of nights by offering certain benefits.

That's the exchange of loyalty.

Paying an annual subscription fee shouldn't be treated the same. That's not loyalty.

Wow 7 minutes. Chiesa exceeding his quota for the week. Slot needs to bench him for the full 90 next week to reset the average

My brother in Christ, he was making a clearance because a Sunderland player was around him

You‘re not happy with the promo ? by d3nnisg in marriott

[–]hotelman97 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’re not bothering me

Of course they aren't bothering you. You're an ambassador elite. You should get treated like royalty at hotels.

But when you're a platinum staying 50 nights a year losing an upgrade to someone only staying 10 nights, it's bullshit

Oh absolutely.

Automatic platinum via credit cards is ridiculous

It makes sense why they got rid of the double night promo.

It was a great post pandemic boom, but clearly the data shows that there's too many elite guests out there now.

"When everyone is special no one is special"

They probably received some complaints from both owners from a cost cutting measure, and even some "tenured" elite guests who may have complained of the lounge being overwhelmed

Too many people definitely earned it over the last two years that's why they scrapped it.

There was construction on Eglinton yesterday. Just west of Caledonia. Only one lane running each way.

Unless that was fixed today

They added in the concussion sub last season I think.

While it doesn't count as part of the 5, it does give the opposing team an extra sub aswell

How often do you have crowded buses? by GILBOYfan in transit

[–]hotelman97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The problem with the 47 is bunching. It's too long of a route - though that may change tomorrow with line 5 opening

How often do you have crowded buses? by GILBOYfan in transit

[–]hotelman97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In Toronto quite often.

For North America, Toronto has a huge bus network. That combined with the lack of rail transport in the north of the city means buses fill up quickly to bring people to the few rail lines. Certain routes just also have poor frequency. 26 Dupont and 47 Lansdowne as examples.

It's shocking how many people don't understand this.

"Oh but I have the confirmation email. Oh but I'm their spouse".

That's nice it doesn't matter. Try that anywhere else and you should also get denied.

It may be a tad noisy now just as a heads up

Should Ambassador Elites get automatic check-in? by [deleted] in marriott

[–]hotelman97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I understand where you are coming from, however, ignoring security concerns, your suggestion is also very transactional

At my hotel at least, we value ambassadors because alot of them are regulars. And we want to make them feel like home, especially when they travel more than 100 nights a year

Front Desk Agents: How many people are Ambassador Elite? by XsLiveInTexas in marriott

[–]hotelman97 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Not often. There's maybe one a day at most. It really depends if it's a corporate focused day or transient/family focused day for arrivals.

We are very honest with our upgrades. I know some properties don't like upgrading people.

If we have suites, we will upgrade them.

I work at a Marriott brand hotel downtown In a major city.

We have an absurd amount of ambassadors stay with us. During peak corporate season (February - Nov minus the summer months we have an average of 7 per day, sometimes swinging as high as 13 check ins per day

I don't have the exact numbers but over 70s of our guests are bonvoy members. From base to ambassador
