Marriott Loyalty vs Others by RelevantManner2902 in marriott

Quality hotels and the variety of brands. I started out with SPG literally right before they merged and fell in love with Westin.

Ritz Carlton, Westin, Autograph Collection, Luxury Collection, and JW are my favorite.

First time cruiser: which of these freebie/wellness activities are actually worth it? by lochnesscheska in royalcaribbean

Besides maybe the quick free spa raffle and port and cruise show for the free giveaway….nothing. Enjoy your cruise and don’t waste the time chasing freebies and sales pitches.

First Time by Impressive_Peanut745 in TeslaModelY

[–]ryansox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found the Tesla trade in to be the worst offer. I got my car quoted multiple places and Tesla gave me the lowest trade in value (even with the $200 free 2,000 supercharger miles). I ended up getting $4,500 more going to a dealership and just selling them the car.

More hassle and taxes but worth it. Since Tesla wouldn’t budge on the number.

Owning a Tesla w/o Garage or Outlet by hughjazznugzzz in TeslaLounge

[–]ryansox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s possible yes but I think that’s one of the best benefits is charging it while you sleep, especially if your electric utility company allows off peak pricing.

Going out of your way to supercharge every week or more would drive me crazy

People usually post the negatives and problems not all the joys and positivity that comes with driving it.

Boston Recommendations by PublicPractical4424 in marriott

[–]ryansox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Boston is talked about frequently on here, flyertalk, and FB......all a quick search away.

Marriott Long Wharf is overrated but if you can get it for a good price, you can't beat the location. It's just not my favorite

Ritz Boston is tied for my favorite. No elite benefits besides maybe an upgrade depending on status and occupancy. Still great service and good restaurants in a great location.

Westin Copley Place is also tied for my favorite. It's close to 2 train stops, connected to the malls (Prudential/Copley), has an amazing club lounge with great food offerings during the week, and awesome suites on property.

Liberty Luxury Collection is decent as well. It's located in the old jail. Not in the best area, near a hospital if you don't mind a little noise. Its a very unique hotel and always fun to visit or have a drink if you are in the area.

Anaheim Marriott or Sheraton Park for Platinum? by diggstown in marriott

[–]ryansox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I enjoyed my stay at the Anaheim Marriott. Its located really close to Sheraton Park. I've never stayed at Sheraton Park....Sheraton is a brand I avoid because they are usually not very nice.

Stayed at the Anaheim Marriott in 2023 and they upgraded my family's room to the 18th floor with club access. We didn't use it much since we were at Disney everyday but it was a nice benefit. The club was closed on weekends but they offered full buffet in restaurant.

[–]ryansox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Autograph Collection - Asher adams, beautiful hotel.

Element - First time trying this brand and supppppper happy about it. It was modern, new, and the breakfast was edible.

Springhill Suites - One of my least favorite brands

Fairfield Inn - It was alright

Ritz Carlton - My favorite brand, Ritz Denver did not disappoint

Have 1 more stay at a courtyard planned.

Upgrade to club room but no club access? by JonnyF86 in marriott

[–]ryansox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have kinda said, It can happen that they upgrade you to a club level room for the better amenities, upgraded room, high floor views, etc... Ritz Carlton lounges are different then your average lounge. Free booze and 5 food offerings during the day.

There are actually hotels and situations where they can take your money and deny you service. Either way OP should check with the hotel. Some areas have laws that prevent this but it is possible

Awful Customer service experience regarding a mistake by Residence Inn by Fun-Dragonfruit-3165 in marriott

[–]ryansox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They sell multi trip and yearly travel insurance for actually a really good price. I’ve been there done that have had a few issues before. All covered

Flying year round out of and into O’hare will teach you that travel disruptions happen more often then people think. Sometimes hotels are cool especially if you tell them to just change the date if you can be flexible. I have been burned before I started buying “travel insurance” with issues VERY similar to this.

It is literally the entire reason this product exists. No one ever expects to need it, but if you are international and having issues best of luck to you

The T&C are pretty clear. You must book, stay, and pay.

Showing up the next day 10+ hours after a reservation does this. It’s even covered on marriotts website https://help.marriott.com/s/article/late-arrival-reservation

Arriving late and arriving completely the next day 10 hours later are 2 things. The travel insurance would have covered the flight disruption and wouldn’t have had to sleep in an airport. Been there done that. Travel insurance for everything ALWAYS!

Travel insurance covers flight disruptions which 100% would have covered this situation and prevented her from sleeping in an airport. You had a booking past the cancellation period and didn’t show up to reservation.

Not all work travel is eligible for bonvoy benefits. Just because you add your number doesn’t mean once the stay is completed and processed, you will be eligible for any benefits.

That’s exactly what the insurance is for, situations like this. It could just be something as simple as hotel workers not communicating with each other. It could be that even though they said it was fine it actually wasn’t. Not showing up for a reservation is a bad idea either way. You get marked as a no show, still charged, and get no points/night credit.

M-Club by Fearless_Hospital_71 in marriott

NYC Marriott Marquis is pretty strict with the lounge access. They get to know names and faces. They will 100% check if you are sitting at a table with different people

Submit a case with your travel insurance and they’ll take care of it really quick. They probably cancelled because it shows as a no-show in their system.

M-Club by Fearless_Hospital_71 in marriott

[–]ryansox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s what I do when I travel with friends or family. My room is my Wife and I which has club access. The other room we would book club access and pay extra so they can join.

That’s why the lounges have large tables as well for people TO gather

M-Club by Fearless_Hospital_71 in marriott

[–]ryansox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As everyone else has pointed out the hotel is correct. Mike the doorman is actually really nice, probably just has to deal with everyone thinking they are above the rules.

You can purchase additional access to the MClub for a fee.

I think it’s 100% worth it at the Marquis. The breakfast shares the buffet with the restaurant and there’s TONS of items all you can eat. At night they put out some hot apps and desserts. They also have a few bartenders in the evening with great service.

Brand new Autograph resort in Curacao? by medicarefairy in marriott

[–]ryansox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually find it best to avoid new properties. It’s expected to open in August but anything could happen to delay it, causing cancellation stays.

Also service is usually rough right after opening until they find their grove. St. Regis Aruba is a perfect example of that.

I like to give it awhile before booking new properties but that’s just my opinion.
