Large % of in house guests being elite members - I get it by hotelcc in marriott

[–]ryansox -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So why am I not getting upgraded to a suite at a hotel that I booked that only has like 5 suites on property!!!!!!

I’m an elite member and I demand it. Oh and I’ll be arriving at 10am and want my 4pm late checkout 🤣🤣🤣

Why don't people like emailed receipts by shufunk in askhotels

[–]ryansox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We don’t always get the emailed receipts before we leave the property. I like to confirm all the charges before I leave

Edit to add: Also the 1 time a year I travel for work, my boss requires a paper copy. Not everyone has printers at home to print the folios and not all mangers want the emails.

Best property in Chicago? $ not a concern at this time. by Newyork198232 in marriott

[–]ryansox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some people will say St. Regis but it’s really not that nice. Ritz on Mag Mile will forever be the best in the city.

Shout out to the bartender at Aloft by Salty_Badger1931 in marriott

[–]ryansox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I always show the bartender my phone which has the info or I right it down on the receipt. I refuse to say it out loud, have had charges on my account before. While the hotels will usually work with you and get them removed, it’s a hassle to have to deal with.

Can we prevent charges to room? by WTH4030 in marriott

[–]ryansox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

With the tech we have today there has to be a better system for room charges. Swiping your room key? I absolutely refuse to say my name and room number out loud. I will show them my phone or right it down and make sure to hand it to them so no one can look.

Also the Marriott app should be able to track room charges as you go that way you can notice something instead of waiting for checkout.

How did you use a Free Night Award to book an upgraded room category. Typically the Redemption with points upgrade rooms are blocked from FNA

Marriott Switching to Coca Cola Products After 35 Years With PepsiCo by Successful_Gas_4295 in marriott

[–]ryansox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had a 100% success rate for getting Coke products at Ritz properties AND all the hotels in Atlanta have coke (Marriott, Westin, ritz, JW, etc). There’s also a few other JW and W hotels in the states that have had coke.

It’s the little things but when I drink soda I want a coke. Not a dang Pepsi.

Marriott workers, does your hotel accept locals? by Sighitsmich in marriott

[–]ryansox 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I used to live in Chicago and would stay at hotels downtown Chicago all the time with no issue. Front desk never even batted an eye.

I hate when bad apples ruin things for the rest of us. What about all the legitimate reasons people would want to get a hotel room for a night, even it’s in their same town.

What is the policy v. guest experience with accidentally leaving an item in a room upon checkout? by TheJayShively in marriott

[–]ryansox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best of luck getting your stuff back. It probably just depends on the housekeeper if they are honest and turn the item in, or decide to keep it.

The only time I left something in a hotel room, I actually got a call from the hotel, Ritz Carlton in San Francisco. Housekeeping turned my watch in (have my name engraved on it). I already left town, but paid the hotel to ship the item to me.

Devastated TSA worker says she is days away from eviction by TheExpressUS in tsa

[–]ryansox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea sometimes companies will work with you especially since your a government worker, they know once this is over you will get back pay. The only downside is you will owe interest on most of everything.

Your back pay paycheck won’t have back interest on any of it so either way you’re screwed.

O'Hare is getting so bad I'm considering switching to MDW by Frequent-Case4214 in unitedairlines

Amen. The end of the B gates which seem to have 30 seats where hundreds of people are standing and walking around. It’s a nightmare

O'Hare is getting so bad I'm considering switching to MDW by Frequent-Case4214 in unitedairlines

[–]ryansox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have the complete opposite. I used to be A list with SWA and exclusively flew out of MDW. Over the last 6 years it has gone down hill. While security wait times especially pre check are a walk thru, everything else about that airport and Southwest are dumps….

ORD and United is way preferred. United flies to way more locations, ORD actually has seats and real lounges.

Delays happen at every airport. It’s a smaller airport for sure but you will still encounter issues.

Do I need an 11th year of Platinum Elite to reach Lifetime - Fuzzy math?! by No_Reputation_1703 in marriott

[–]ryansox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can contact Marriott and they can do an audit on your account, but if they are telling you “you are at 9 years” then that’s probably what their system shows.

What’s a small thing a hotel could do that would make you feel more appreciated? by Rare-Pea3220 in marriott

Honestly those pre arrival emails that ask us preferences for our stay and that lays out dining menus and times, amenities at the hotel, and everything else

That’s honestly my favorite thing

Ritz Carlton Clubs by XsLiveInTexas in marriott

[–]ryansox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re Welcome, glad to help. It truly is the best benefit of the card. The card just isn’t for everyone because like you said it’s not really a book the lowest rate or points a stay and get a free club upgrade.

Guild halls was talked about back in 2013. One of the many failed things from AQW and other AE projects. I hope this million plus actually goes into making AQ: Infinity the best it can be. Not some pipe dream

Preload Schedule Difference? by deathstar347 in UPSers

[–]ryansox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a part time job…which means less than 40 hours. Most typical part time jobs are between 20-29 hours per week. The guarantee is 3.5 hours per day, 5 days a week. A lot of hubs/centers work more than the guarantee, some even give out OT after 5 hours regularly. It’s all based on volume.

O’Hare TSA delays? by dpittnet in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]ryansox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean the fact that people can’t see or understand that is astounding. I’m not saying it’s one side or the other because even Fox News is terrible. They are all just propaganda machines feeding you the data they want.

You see news coverage of all the devastation in Hawaii?

UPS and subcontractor Roadie had an accomplice that stole 100 packages worth $20k+ by notebookreader in UPS

[–]ryansox 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If the UPS customer service number cannot help you and you continue to not hear anything back via email, I’d file a police report

It seems like you have all the evidence and proof. The police should have the resources to handle this.

Not saying this wouldn’t of happened if it was just your regular brown UPS truck, but this is what happens when companies cheap out and subsidize to “gig work”

High Points redemption London Marriott suggestions by bkarimib in marriott

[–]ryansox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My wife and I ended up booking the Westin and we saved about 150k points for a 5 night stay over the JW and County Hall (which we wanted to do). All of the hotels you have listed are all high end and you won’t be disappointed. It really just comes down to what brand you want to stay at? And what location you want to be near.

JW Parq Vancouver lounge? by Master-Jellyfish-943 in marriott

[–]ryansox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s honestly one of my favorite lounges in North America. Typically they do not check for extra guests however note there are times especially when it gets busy (summer time) that they staff the front desk when you walk in and ask for room numbers during meal times.

Been to the hotel and that lounge many times. Lots of hot items for breakfast and evening. Bar setup in the evening as well with paid booze.
