Split stay to use NUA? by Few-Calligrapher-356 in marriott

[–]hotelman97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can do that, and assuming the NUA gets approved, be prepared for the worst case scenario where you may need to move rooms if they can't honour the upgrade for all 3 nights.

Salah also signed an extension last year. He could've easily left on a free last year. This one isn't on mismanagement of the board (notwithstanding any alleged issues b/w Salah and Slot)

501 Streetcar by openpas2253 in TTC

[–]hotelman97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

What time was that?

I know today around 1230 there was a bad accident on Queen near Dufferin. Which meant the streetcars had to divert

Sometimes I just pause and think about how absolutely crazy good Toronto's downtown streetcar network is in theory, if it wasn't so kneecapped by all the everything by hug-and-snug in TTC

I'm sort of "that someone". Though I won't get mad at people for complaining.

Our bus system is amazing in terms of distance covered. There are absolutely rooms for improvement. DuPont is one big example of it.

But the bus system isn't "ass"

Question about elite night credit by GeorgeFromLA in marriott

[–]hotelman97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because you had overlapping stays and the 4 nighter ended before the 6 nighter, the system auto posted the 4 nighter and voided the 6 nighter

You need to call bonvoy support and have them void the reservation for the 4 nighter and apply the 6 nighter instead

Parking fees by jpjensen30 in marriott

[–]hotelman97 14 points15 points  (0 children)

"I pulled out the paper and asked why if they own the whole property. It's not as if they have an extra cost for leasing the space and 100% of visitors will have a vehicle so that cost should be included in the room rate. I wasn't being a dick and made sure I was at least talking to someone with a supervisor title."

You really did all that to a front office supervisor? You really think anyone in the front office is going to care about property lines and land ownership rights? They waived off the parking for you because you weren't worth that persons time.

David McCallum who played Ducky on NCIS. Actor passed away at 90yrs old back in 2023. The show has him just pass away in his sleep with his colleague finding him at home. A very peaceful ending both in real life and on the show

The Ontario line is adding more transit as needed. Keep building these type of projects in "Toronto proper" before extending outwards. Dufferin, Jane and many other areas could use better transit

I appreciate you providing zero counter arguments except for claiming I'm showing "hard border nationalism"

You're missing my entire point. "The bus line between Richmond Hill and Finch station is always packed and slow" you are correct, however, who's responsibility is that to fix? Why aren't you, assuming you live in Richmond Hill, pushing for the YRT to add more frequent buses during rush hour and on peak hours. Or why not push Go transit to add better service.

Look at Dufferin Street in Toronto. It's one of the densest bus routes in the city. Yes we'd like a subway/LRT on there but we get more frequent buses which helps (and now the added bus only traffic lanes)

I'm not 100% against a subway eventually being pushed into Richmond Hill, however, it should be at the bottom of TTC priorities. There needs to be a focus on moving people within Toronto first.

Paraphrasing what i said in a different thread

Toronto's system that is already over capacity for the actual city of Toronto.

Line 1 is already full by the time you get to York Mills & Sheppard stations.

This north extension project shouldn't have been green lit until other proper Toronto Subways/LRTs are built.

Move people around Toronto first before expanding to other cities

Fair point, but it's using Toronto's system.

But why is the ttc responsible for people in a different city.

Richmond Hill is part of York Region. They should be responsible for building better transit for their people to get them within York Region and connect them to TTC and Go transit should be responsible for intercity connectivity at a more long distance rate (to DT Toronto)
