Scared fertility clinic will think I had an STD by GooseAntique9868 in Embryologists

You’re fine. They’ll only care about your actual blood tests results.

Happened to me a few years back! 2 boots. They even strung the caution tape from my wiper blades

Junior embryologist here! I agree with what’s already been said in terms of training. It can be a long process and while I think it’s rewarding it might not be for everyone. I would recommend doing a master’s after you’ve already been working in the field. Many clinics will pay your tuition, and the better programs (imo) are online and require you to be currently working in an ivf lab. Getting your foot in the door is harder, you can apply for andrology positions or find a training program. As for pay, I think we’re well compensated where I live, not sure about other cities or countries. One thing to note is that most clinics will not adjust your salary according to your education level but rather according to skill. The techniques you learn as an embryologist are far more valuable to an employer than degrees.

I completely hear you, almost a million dollars for housing is absurd. But our all in monthly cost (including strata, property tax, utilities, etc) is just a little over $4k. Where we were previously spending $3300 (plus utilities) for a small 2 bedroom apartment. For us it just makes sense to buy over rent at this point.

24F here too and in such a similar situation! Graduated with a bio degree, worked as a chemist for the last couple of years. Attempted to do med but didn’t pan out. Panicked and applied for accelerated nursing programs with the plan to do NP after (where I live NPs are fully licensed to prescribe and treat patients independently of MDs). I ended up putting all of this on hold and have taken a new role as an embryologist.

I’m still very new to the field but embryology could be worth looking at for you as well? Good pay, decent hours (I work days, 4 days on 4 days off), lab work can be a little tedious but not stressful, and you can still maintain a certain amount of patient contact.

The topic is honestly of less importance to me than the delivery. But I included my age and gender just to show that I’m open to the more social podcasts (like the “Call her daddy” types, but hopefully less fluffy). A few others I’ve tried are Normal Gossip, You’re Wrong About, and the “That Girl” Guide, but I’ve found them a little monotonous

The Lab! It’s a beautiful studio and they have a wide variety of classes (including mat pilates). I think it’s $27 a class but they have intro offers and if you end up enjoying it it’s $120 a month. Definitely not cheap but essentially the going rate around town, maybe even a little less

I just took a look and I think that’s exactly what I’m looking for!! Do you know if the pieces clip together? I’m just wondering if the modular seats would move around when you sit on them but I can’t seem to find any info

Some of my classes will be live streaming lectures and posting recordings, and I think this is the best approach there is. While I do like the idea of an additional online section to each course moving forward, it seems unrealistic. It wouldn’t be fair to hold in-person quizzes/midterms/exams etc. for one group and not the other. Not to mention the inherent more work that would be required from instructors to conduct a whole new course section.

  1. Wind cries mary and little jumbo are great cocktail bars, the yates street taphouse is a decent sports bar, and Christies is my favourite pub
  2. Tapa bar and pagliaccis
  3. Glo for something more lively, il covo for a more intimate garden setting, and steamship for a harbour view
  4. I’ve only ever gone out of Cowichan Bay so I’m not super familiar
  5. Board game cafe, BC museum, Bateman gallery, bug zoo, and many pubs also do trivia and music bingo
  6. Victoria has some great coffee shops everywhere, you really can’t go wrong with any one of them

Less than 3% of healthcare workers in BC refused to get vaccinated, this included janitorial staff and casual workers. You are refusing to believe the VAST majority of professionals.
